How to make a bilingual site with CFv5?

I already know how to make a bilingual site in Joomla but not with Chronoforms.
I understand I would need to send you a language file as per http://www.chronoengine.com/forums/posts/f2/t93614/chronoforms-v5-french-translation.html?hilit=french
but for a very small bilingual site with only one form per language should I have separate forms for each language or is there a way of making a form bilingual. I guess the former and I would need to add a locale on one form - is that right?

I think that in CFv5 you can use the Locales tab to enter translations for any text strings (Labels, ToolTips, etc) that are visible in your form,

I saved the form again with the locale as shown below but nothing has changed when I view my test

site[attachment=0]temp.png[/attachment]

from a local laptop.

I am not sure what "strict match" means - how do I know if I need that?

You have tr-TR in the Language tag (which is what I would expect) but the Help text says to use tr_tr

In http://www.w3.org/International/articles/language-tags/Overview.en.php I see the 2 parts of the code are separated by a hyphen not an underscore. But I do not know whether that is obligatory.

Not sure about different browsers but in my copy of Windows powershell shows only 2 chars are used:
PS C:\Users\Geoff> systeminfo | find /i "System Locale"
System Locale: tr;Turkish
PS C:\Users\Geoff>

But I could not get it working in a reasonable time so I decided just to make separate forms because I attach them to different menus anyway: as my site is so small and will not change often that should be easy enough.

As my site is so small I did it with separate forms now. So for myself I do not need the locale.

I do not know how Wordpress handles languages but if it is the same as Joomla I suggest you bring Chronoforms into line with them and use tr-TR as the syntax. Joomla refers to tr-TR as the "Language Tag" for "Language" Turkish. So perhaps you should drop the term "locale" to avoid confusion.

As I say I am fine now but if you would like me to test anything for you please ask.

As I said earlier 'tr-TR' is what I would expect. It's not my product and I'm sure that the developer, Max, has some logic behind his choice here.

It is working now with tr_tr as stated in the help text thanks.

Mind you in a future Chronoforms version I suggest it should also allow language tags in the format used by Joomla (and maybe also Wordpress and/or some kind of standard format but I do not know about that) and try to prevent confusion between "locale" and "language" by using the terms in the same way as Joomla and Wordpress.

Perhaps my mistake was not to use all capitals in the names of the strings.

I have also problems with the locales tab.
My scenario is that:
on tab locales: create new locale
- tag = de_de
- strict = no
- strings = #CF_CAPTCHA_ERR#=Der Sicherheitscode wurde falsch eingegeben.

on form setup I have add the string "#CF_CAPTCHA_ERR#" to the error field on to the "Check Captcha" option dialog.
If I send the form in german (de-DE) language, the error dialog shows "#CF_CAPTCHA_ERR#" but not the translation.

I have try a lot of combinations with strict option, with 1 #, with 2 # chars around the language string in locale tab a.s.o.
Nothing works.

Please, can you tell me (and all others) how to use the locales tab?

i.e. in this way:
a) go to locale tab and add new locale (i.e. de_de)
b) change option uvw to the value xyz
c) add lang. string (i.e. #abc#=Ein Beispieltext)
and so on

I think this will help a lot of people to use this feature.

BTW:
In my form code I use the JText::_() feature from joomla to name labels, messages etc. My first try to add a language tag in the template lang file and use inside the captcha dialog was failed. this solution should be a nice one, but CF goes a nother way (via locales). This is ok, but I need to understand how it works. :-)

You are doing it correctly but it looks like there was a bug in this part, it would not translate the actions settings, and in this case the error message of the captcha, you can contact me using the contact us page to get the patch fix!

I have copied the file into the folder that you have specified. Now the string will be translated, but not in all languages.

in my form inside the "Check captcha" dialog, this String '#CF_CAPTCHA_ERR#' is set into the field "error"
in my de-DE*-file this line is saved:
CF_CAPTCHA_ERR="Der Sicherheitscode wurde falsch eingegeben."
in my en-GB*-file this line is saved:
CF_CAPTCHA_ERR="The security code has been entered incorrectly."

In configuration I have activate the language debug option. Both files are clean and throw no errors.

In german the string will be translated, but in english still '#CF_CAPTCHA_ERR' is shown in error message area.
