Email Stopped Working

Beyer 05 Mar, 2014
We upgraded our site from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 3.2. It was a redesign, pretty much everything was upgraded.

I took the chronoforms v4 form from our J1.5 site, backed it up and restored it to the chronoforms v4 J3.2 site. I changed nothing. Not a single setting was altered, from my global configuration email settings to my chronoform v4 on submit email event tab settings. Everything is exactly the same...

Of course, this broke the form.

So I created a new form with all the same information, same name, same settings as the v4 J1.5 form. Again, even though ALL settings are identical, including domain name and the server upon which it is hosted (same directory even) the form does not send email and, of course, I get no confirmation one way or the other, that the form succeeded or failed.

This is so frustrating, as I'm certain its something so minute...

Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Clay

Also, the debug feature shows no isues:

An email has been SENT successfully from (Clay Beyer)clay.beyer@nkadd.org to samshelpdesk@nkadd.org, clay.beyer@nkadd.org, baazil1@gmail.com

Sent successfully, but I don't receive anything.

And for more confirmation, I tested the old site (the J1.5 site)... it continues to work flawlessly.

And, I have checked this post: http://www.chronoengine.com/faqs/2623-why-arent-my-%3Cspan%20class=

(I have no idea why the URL is like that) Everyone of the conditions in that post has been met. There is simply no easily recognizable reason why the emails should not send.

Also, sorry for all the posts, I've attempted to find an EDIT POST button, but for some strange reason, there is not one (or I just plain don't see it).

One more thing... the catpcha is completely useless. I can enter any 5 digit combination and the form submits.

Hi Clay,

The Captcha is probably missing the Event Loop action. Please see this FAQ.

The email is more tricky. Joomla! changed most of their email code between 1.5 and 3 and some of the older code just doesn't work :-( Please see this FAQ It seems as though switching Email delivery to SMTP, and making sure that the From Email address matches the address in the server email setup are the two most common fixes.

Got the captcha working. Correct, I didn't have the Event Loop setup.

As for the email. I saw the FAQ (referenced in an earlier post), all points of that FAQ checkout for me, I pass them all. Email is set to SMTP and from email matches as it should.

I downloaded 3 other form extensions, set a form up and on the first try the email worked as it should. So, that makes it even more frustrating. Something tells me when I go into work tomorrow, the thing is just going to start magically working!

Any other ideas? I've been using Chronoforms for quite a while now, it's a really great extension, but this issue always seems to come up. I've cleared and purged cache, even restarted the apache server. Just doesn't seem to want to work. I've even made a simple form with just a submit button and the basic email settings of To and From... nothing.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Clay,

I think its in the FAQ but I can only suggest that you try my Email [GH] action for CFv4 as that is coded a bit differently from the standard one and sometimes solves this problem.

The Email [GH] action, I guess, solved the issue. I have absolutely no clue what could possibly be different, as I entered in the EXACT same information, but whatever... it's working!

Thanks for the help! Always appreciated.
