Combine CF + 3rd party component

WMFFPP 22 Jan, 2014
Hi there,
Here’s a tricky question "is it possible to" for a work I'll have to do. If I may ask you some advices about it

The context:
A council receives "questions" from several types of persons.
The questions are about deontology and lead to the constitution of memorandum. Then, the council publishes the memos on the website.
Every memo is categorized according to:
- The requester + precision (1).
- The year of the question.
- An identification number.
- The context of the question.
- The object of the question + precision (1).
- Several thematic points + precision (1).

Here are the special things:
- The precisions are required. They are linked to the main item (ie. Requester could be “non-Professional Person” -> then the precision options = “parent”, “brother/sister”, “tutor”…)
- The thematic points => the minimum is 1 (+ 1 precision) to the maximum of 12. There isn’t any sort of ranking due to the thematic’s. There are just like tags.
- Visitors need to do search in the database… (by year, requester…).

The previous work we made in 2010:
- Extremely dirty code.
- We’ve combined Jumi, tables from the DB, a form maker and Joomla.
- No search engine, just the listing of all records plus the link to a detail view with download link.
Then, the idea:
- We’re very pleased with CF (easy to use, great support, etc) and an easy way to use it (+ the possibility to record form’s answers in a DB).
- CF will be used to record the memos (double linked drop down is an imperative parameter, DB save, maybe file uploads too).
- Joomla 3 for CMS
- Then I need a 3rd party tool to allow visitors: to list memos, to search the DB (simple or advanced), to count memos etc.
Have you guys ever experienced this king of combo like CF + SobiPro? SobiPro could be fine ? (no double dropdown)

Thanks for your advices !

Hi Germain,

I find this hard to understand from two readings :-(

It's a long time since I worked with SOIBIPro so can't usefully comment on that.

I'm reasonably certain that you could build the list/search/count facilities using ChronoConnectivity with ChronoForms.

I've never used ChronoConnectivity but I'll certainly give it a try. If you say that it's possible to obtain what I want.
Plus I rather prefer using 2 tools made by the same persons than my first option CF + 3rd party.
I'm not a very good coder (I do mostly CSS or HTML coding), I hope I'll do the thing with CC🙂
Thanks for your reply GreyHead
