Hi,
You must have PHP 5.3 with PDO extension enabled to use Chronoforums, by default PHP comes with this module enabled, but some hosts disable it, so please contact your host and ask them to enable PDO with mySQL support
Regards,
Max

Hi boniaditya,
How to change a php.ini file depends on your web hosting set up; you'll need to check their help documents.

Hi boniaditya,
I don't know anything secifically about ChronoForums but my guess is that the php.ini file isn't being loaded. Please go to Site Admin | System | System Information | PHP Information. There you can see the PHP.ini file(s) being loaded and check if the PDO modules are there (look for a section down the page headed PDO).

Thank you - I got it but i need to ask a few philosophical questions
You develop chronoforums - yet you use a forum made with phpbb3 - what message does it send ? That chronoforums as a forum is not complete yet or are you better off using phpbb3 if you want a real forum!
So what advantage does chronoforums derive out of its affiliation with joomla - how is chronoforum exploiting the thousands of plugin/module/extension architecture already existing in joomla -
I mean to ask how is chronoforums any different from phpbb3 without any modules - So which choice should I make - phpbb3 with a bridge to joomla or chronoforums or kunena and why?
Please don't mind my lack of manners - I just need answers!

Hi boniaditya,
I can't answer all your questions - Max is the developer and he makes all the decisions about what to develop, why and when.
The reason that this forum is on PHPBB3 is because it was set up and running long before ChronoForums was even thought of and there are several years of useful history and several tens of thousands of registered users. The forum Bridge (RokBridge) was not developed for Joomla! 2/3 for quite a long time after their release and that (among other things) prevented the site here from being upgraded. Max wrote ChronoForums in part to gain independence from blocks like that. I believe that he is working on a migration package from PHPBB3 to ChronoForums - but that is not a trivial task.
I can't answer your second question beyond saying that, seen from a distance, both the Joomla! platform and the JED occasionally seem to make rather quirky and difficult decisions about the future direction/development.
And, of course, only you can decide which forum to use.
