mail to different email addresses based on subject choice

Thomsterdam 07 Nov, 2013
Hi there,

I may be asking too much (meaning, something ChronoForms cannot do (yet), something you don't know howto or - worst case scenario - something you can explain and I won't understand...).
I'll try anyway. Here goes:

My question is basically two-fold:
* mail message to different email addresses based on subject selected
* drop-down or radio button selection including a custom subject field

I would like to have a form on which site visitors can select a subject (preferably a drop-down menu but radio buttons may do the trick) and based on what they choose, the email is sent to the right department.

This is what I would like:
subject => email goes to:
photos => photos@ mydomain.com
complaint => complaints@ mydomain.com
info request => info@ mydomain.com
other subject, namely: [text box in which they can fill in their own subject] => general@ mydomain.com

So there is a number of predefined subjects and the message is sent to specific departments; and if they fill in a different subject, the mail will go to the general email address.

IF (either of) these two things are (is) possible, could you explain it to me like I'm a four year old? I am not well-versed in PHP (if at all), but I have done a number of template overrides in Joomla. That should give you an idea of my (cap)abilities.

Thanx a lot in advance,

Thom

PS: I'm using ChronoForms 4.0.1 on Joomla 3.1.5

Hi Thom,

Please see this FAQ - I think that is what you are looking for.

Hi,

i read the FAQ and implemented it and it works fine. Thanks for that

just one issue : how can i disable the required Static To - emailaddress? And make the preferred emailaddress the To - emailaddress so the receiver can reply directly to the right emailaddress.

thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi Mark,

You can use a Dynamic To Email in place of the Static one.

You can also use the Dynamic Reply To Email and Name boxes to allow a one-click reply if that is what you are asking about.

Hi Bob,

got it. thanks.

i thought the Static fields are required. Just left them empty now and the form does what it's supposed to do.

thanks.
