adding,deleting fields in established form

scott1137 27 Jul, 2013
Hi Bob,

Client has sent me a new version of our secure online form to replace the existing one. There are only a few new fields and deletions of a few others. Been away from ChronoForms for a few months so rusty.

What I've done (on duplicate testing site):
- changed the html in an editor
- pasted in the code section of the current form on ChronoForm Forms Manager
- "Created Table"
The form shows as hoped online via Frontend View.

However Data View does not reflect changes. Nor does "Test Form."

What is the best process for making changes like this?

Also, I'm using ChronoConnectivity so Admin Assist. can retrieve submitted form from database. Suggestions for the best workflow there would be appreciated.

Best,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Pretty much impossible to say from the information here. If you've updated the Form HTML and then saved the form then the form should display correctly provided that the Form Type is set to Custom on the Form Code tab.

If you dropped any existing table; created a new one and linked the form DB Save action to the new table then that should work OK. Of course you won't see any data there until you have submitted the form.

Hi Bob,

Yes the form displays correctly on the front end.

What I haven't done is this:

If you dropped any existing table; created a new one and linked the form DB Save action to the new table then that should work OK. Of course you won't see any data there until you have submitted the form.

I usually use phpMyAdmin to drop tables. Is there a way to do this within Chronoforms? A way also in Chronoforms to link the form DB Save action to the new table?

When this is done, next steps would be to edit html of the body of the form in ChronoConnectivity and adjust the List View Fields accordingly, right?

Anything else to look out for?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

I use PHPMyAdmin (or a similar tool) to drop or edit tables. There isn't anything in the current version of ChronoForms. If the new table has the same name then I think ChronoForms will still save to it; if you rename it then open the DB Save action and link it to the new table.

And make any other changes to use the new inputs - nothing special I can think of except to work through the usual stuff.

Hi Bob,

Thank got it. Just needed to review the "save Database" video once more.

Created database, gave it a new name, submitted front end form, opened the DB Save action and linked it to the newly named table.

Now on to more of the usual stuff in ChronoConnectivity... ;0)

Thanks,
Scott
