three emails

ricand.xi 02 Apr, 2013
Hi,
using the last version on a Joomla 3 site.
I followed the Youtube instructions for setting:
1) an email to the site admin
2) and email back to the customer

It works perfectly BUT, for every form submission I receive THREE emails:
1) an email to the admin from the static address, with the full template and all the data in the form
2) an email to the admin from the dynamic address (?) with the short thanks message as suggested
3) and email back to the customer address with the short thanks message...
The last two are really a single email with a double email address.
Any suggestion? Thanks.

Hi Rand,

Yours is about the fourth report like this that we’ve had in the last two weeks. There haven't been any changes in ChronoForms to affect this so it must be something in Joomla! but my tests haven't been able to replicate it.

Which version of Joomla! 3 do you have?

The only workaround I have at the moment is to make sure that the Email to the client is second so that the duplicated email goes to the admin.

Hi GreyHead. Thanks for your fast answer.
My Joomla version is the last one, 3.0.3
My email to the customer IS the second (and last) one.
But it's no use, really. The following is taken from SquirrelMail:

Subject: Thanks for your reservation
From: "Site administrator" <xxxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.it>
Date: Tue, April 2, 2013 10:02 am
To: yyyyyyy@gmail.com (less)
boss@xxxxxxxxx.com
As you can see, the sender (and after that the email message) is correct BUT there's still that double "To" ???
I can of course disable the email back to the customer and contact him by human email but this was one of the nicest touch of your forms. Any ideas you have is welcome.

Hi Rand,

Sorry, I got that the wrong way round then, make the Client email the first one of the two.

I don't know what causes this at the moment, there are a few strange Joomla! bugs around email addresses that take quite a bit of tracking down. And so far I haven't been able to duplicate this problem on my test sites. I'm guessing that some how the previous email address isn't cleared but find it hard to work out how that could happen.

Hi again GreyHead.
> make the Client email the first one of the two.

Worst. Now to the Client is sent not only a double email but also the form data that should be reserved to the admin... I re-moved back the email as they were.

I concur. In the running of the procedure, somehow the previous email address isn't cleared by Joomla. Pity.
I'll delete the email back to the client. I'll contact him by human email. Please, if you find a way around, write here the possible solution.
Best regards and, again, wonderful work!
