still problems with putting a form on a certain page

martenvisser 01 Mar, 2013
Sorry but I still have problems with placing a form on a certain page. Within de Modulemanager I can choose on which page I want to place a form. But the pages I can place the form are the pages which I defined within the main-navigation.

But I have pages which belong to a certain article-catagory (agenda). They do not belong to the main-navigation, so I can't choose the page in the Module-manager.

I can, like the FAQ says, place {‍chronoforms}contactform{/chronoforms} within the HTML of that page, I even place them between <div></div>.
..... contactform is the name of the form ....

But when I publish the page, I see {‍chronoforms}contactform{/chronoforms} on the page and not the actual form.
look at the page where you see at the left the navigation and right the agenda-list. In the center there is the published page with the form-tag and not the form.

What do I do wrong?

Hi martenvisser,

Do you have the ChronoForms plug-in installed and enabled?

I tried to display a Chronoform in an article on a Joomla 2.5 site, using the plugin, but I only see the insert code. I have installed the CFV4 in feb 2013. The CF3.1 textbook says that if you only see the insert code such as:
{chronocontact}yr_form_name{/chronocontact}
then either the plugin is not installed, or it is installed but not enabled.

In my case the plugin is installed and enabled(see screenshots).

I then entered a module position 'mypos2' in the article and enabled the Chronoform module to load the form in mypos2 and lo an behold the form shows correctly!

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Dear Christian, your solution worked! On my Mac, locally with Mamp-database didn't work, but on the life, online site it did worked. So thank you very much.

suggestion for Chrono; expand the plugin for every page and not only on the pages of the main-navigation.

But many thanks for every comment!

Hi,

@Christian: the code for ChronoForms v4 is {chronoforms}form_name{/chronoforms} - the 'chronocontact' version you quote is for ChronoForms v3.

@Martin: the ChronoForms plug-in will work in any article, provided that it is correctly set up. The ChronoForms module will work on any page, you may need to use 'hidden' menu items if you want to show it on selected pages that do not match a published menu item.

Hi greyhead,
Thanks for your reply. The 'hidden' menu items you mentioned, which I need to use... where can I find them within the modulemanager?
On the menuselection > moduleselection I can only select the list of menu-items and if I want to publish on every page, no pages, selected pages, all pages except the selected.
But i can't find hidden pages.

Do I have to install the plugin again?

Hi martinvisser,

If I remember correctly you create a Hidden Menu item by assigning a link to a menu e.g, a new menu called 'hidden'; but don't assign that menu to a Module so it isn't displayed anywhere.

The menu will still show in the Template and Module selection boxes, and you can link URLs to it by including the ItemId in the URL e.g. &ItemID=999

Hi Bob,

The pages I create are not created bij assigning a link to a menu. I create them by just 'create new page' and assign them to the module 'agenda' Therefore the module will display them them in a seperate place on the page and will disappear when the event is over.

Therefore the event-pages I create are not displayed in the Chronoform Modulemanager.

By the way, it's sometimes difficult to translate the things I see in Joomla from Dutch to English...

Thank you

Hi martenvisser,

Now you've lost me completely, I have no idea how you do 'Create new page' in Joomla :-(

Bob

sorry, I mean 'create a new article' I think that's the right translation. And that article is not presented within de Chronoform Modulemanager because there you only can choose within the Menu-items.

I'll explain: I have a site of an oldtimer-car club and they have several events through the year. Those events are presented within the standard Agenda module of Joomla. But they are not shown within the main navigation.
And the forms I need to have placed on the events articles. But because the chronoform Module only shows the main (normal) navigation and not the articles which are only shown within the Agend-module.

I hope I'm more clear now but it is difficult to explain what I see and translate at the same time.

Hi martenvisser,

Can you use the ChronoForms plug-in and include the form in the article?

Bob

It worked!

And yes indeed.. I hadn't seen that you had to set the Chronoform-plugin to work.

Now I can put any form with {chronoforms}form1{/chronoforms} in any article.
But I still think it would be easier when Chronoform showed all articles in the Modulemanager and not only the menu-articles (I really hope that would be possible in the future)

Thank you Bob for your patience!

Hi Marten,

But I still think it would be easier when Chronoform showed all articles in the Modulemanager and not only the menu-articles

I'm sorry, I've read that a few times but I have no idea what it means? What is the ChronoForms Modulemanager?

Bob

go to
extensions > modulemanager (aboven the pluginmanager, templatemanager and languages) > Chronoforms

But maybe my translation is all wrong.

Within the Chronoform module you see the articles where you can place the forms.
GreyHead 07 Mar, 2013
Hi Marten,

That's the standard Joomla! Module manager dialogue. But there is no list of articles there? There's a list of menu items, some of which could be linked to articles.

Neither of these are configured by ChronoForms, they are part of the Joomla! code.

Ok you're right. I think that's the confusing. My mistake.

But is there, within Chronform, a place where I can choose an article on which I want to place a certain form on?
GreyHead 07 Mar, 2013
Hi Marten,

No there isn't; you use the ChronoForms Plug-in to insert a form (or forms) into an article.

Ok Bob, many thanks for your patience. You really helped me a lot. I now can make the forms for our oldtimer-car club much more to its use.

Thank you
