This appears to be a common issue, so I am surprised I have found nothing to help (FAQs, video, other posts, etc). Please bear with me as I describe the issue.
I have Chronoforms Component 4.0 RC3.5.2 and the plugin V4 RC3.0 installed and enabled on Joomla 2.5.8.
I have a form named "contact" with a few text boxes and a captcha field.
In the On Load event for the form I have: "Show html" and "Load Captcha"
In On Submit I have "Check Captcha" and "Show Thanks Message".
The form is published.
The HTML code inside the article is:
<div>{chronoforms}contact{/chronoforms}</div>
The form shows fine if I call it directly from a menu. However, when I try to show it within an article, the article shows only the code in the article.
Any ideas? Thank for any help!

Hmmm . . . it's not a common problem because you have already tried all the fixes that work for the common problems.
From what you describe there are two main possibilities: the plug-in isn't enabled; or there is something else in the article HTML. But you've checked both of those.
By all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.
