Wish - Recaptcha Input element --- enhance Captcha Input

Hi Max,

GreyHead mentioned that you are the guru who chooses what gets implemented. I wasted about 5 hours attempting different things, searching and reading forums, watching a video, etc. Thanks to GreyHead, I finally got my solution. My confusion was based in me thinking that captcha is captcha, and that using the vanilla version or the recaptcha version, they would really be similar, and it should be easier than it is ... being required to use a custom field for ReCaptcha was totally unexpected, and illogical.

Here's the idea I had:

On the Elements List, how about adding a field to the "Captcha Input", which asks whether to use captcha or recaptcha. Then it could insert the proper value, ie. {captcha} or {ReCaptcha}. This code then could be copied, as a recaptcha input, maybe defaulting as appropriate, just to make things easy, and less confusing.

The Load & Check (Re)Captcha actions could be combined too, with the selection of the type.

This implementation will make ChronoForms more useful, and might prevent some from abandoning it for something else.

Thanks,
WebMuse

Hi WebMuse,

Thank you for the suggestions!🙂 we can add a new reCaptcha element, that's simple, but I thought that it should be done using a custom element quickly, since the string {ReCaptcha} loads the recaptcha image and field, so it would be easily done using the multi purpose custom field, also, not everybody is using ReCaptcha.

Regarding combining actions, I thought about this before, the problem with this approach is that it will require a configuration step, and I'm talking about all "load and check" actions, some of them don't need any config (the most used default captcha), you just drag and move forward, but combining them will require that you configure each one, which may also be confusing sometimes🙂

Best regards,
Max

Hi!
I made this suggestion because if there had been a ReCaptcha element, it would have saved me about 6 hours of reading forums, posting a question, attempting different things, spelling it wrong (all lower case), etc.

An alternative is to put a comment onto the captcha element that explains what to do instead (use the custom element and enter {ReCaptcha} using this exact capitalization). So others are guided in what to do.

Thanks,

Hi WebMuse,

We do have a FAQ that is pretty clear on what you need to do.
