Two form submissions in one database entry?

Grizzled 03 Oct, 2012
Hello,

I am using ChronForms V4 and have a question about form submission.

I have a client who has a form where the person will fill out the their name, email, and other fields.

Then upon submitting, it takes them to another form that is a survey. They would like the person to submit the survey and have it go into fields associated with the above form. Is it possible to have the two tied together.

The reason for this is, they don't want to ask the persons name and email again on the survey since they just filled that out on the other form.

The only way a person can get to this survey is through filling out the form.

Any thought if this is possible or how to do this?

Thanks so much, Chuck

Hi Chuck,

Sounds like a case to use the multi-page form with the name on the first page and the survey on the second. Please see this FAQ

Thanks Bob,

This looks like a great solution.

Do you foresee any issues with the form before the first submit button becoming a Joomla article?

Thanks, Chuck

Hi Chuck,

There shouldn't be any problem with that. You can use the Submit Article action either after the first step or at the end of the form depending on the overall design of the form flow.

Hello,

I have been testing the multipage form and having it working nicely.

Is the following possible due to our unique setup?

We want a form that a user fills out (submit one)

and then they fill out a survey (submit two).

If they don't want to fill out the survey, can we still get the information in an email from submit one?

Or do they have to hit the final submit to trigger the email event?

Thanks, Chuck

Hi Chuck,

You don't say how you have this set up but the answer is 'Yes, you can do this. Put the Email action in the OnSubmit event for Form 1.

You can even redirect them either to the Survey Form or to a Thank you page depending on their form choices - please see this FAQ.

Hello,

I have this set up using multipage so I have two submit buttons.

How do I get the email to send on the first submit button (next page)?

On the next page is the survey.

If a customer does do the survey and submits part two of the form, can I have another email sent?

Thanks, Chuck

Hi Chuck,

If you give the Submit buttons the same name and different values then you can check the value when the form submits and take the appropriate action.

Yes you can send a second email after the second page submits.
