"Convert" from frontpage created form?

Hi there. Chronoforms seems very versatile and I think it will fit our needs, but wanted to get a reality check before purchasing.

Basically I want to "convert" the current set of forms we have so I can use them on a new site we are creating. The old web site was created using Frontpage, the new site will be a Joomla 1.5 based site.

After you look at the forms I'd like your opinions if you think it is possible? Or is it just too hard to try to do.

So what are the forms?
Basically they are a set of forms that make up our registration/order form for a one time event. People fill out and make choices on the forms. Some choices affect the amount they owe.

Here is a link to last year's version of the form:
http://hybridfest.com/Registration2007.htm
I'll call this first form, the Registration Form. It has lots of fields. Text fields for names, addresses, etc. Drop downs for shirt sizes, number of meals, etc. Some fields have verifications to make sure they have filled them out, etc.

Once the person makes all their choices, they click the "register" button at the bottom of the form.

This brings them to a second form, I'll call it a Checkout Form. https://www.hybridfest.com//checkout2007.asp
This form is a confirmation page that they can then review and adjust quantities as needed. (They can press a button at the bottom of the page to update the quantities.)

When they have the registration/order how they want
it, they press the "Checkout" button at the bottom of the page that magically takes them to the paypal page where they log into their paypal account and make a payment The dollar amount of the registration/order Checkout Form carries over. All the actual payment happens at paypal. (I later manually match the paypal payments up with the registrations.)

Behind the scenes the data from the registration/order
form is captured in a database, and an email is sent
to the registrant confirming their registration/order, as
well an email to me letting me know of the new
registration. The emails are sent when the registrant clicks the "Checkout" button on the bottom of the confirmation page.

Whew!!!

I still have all the forms and behind the scenes web stuff that created these forms. (Not that I understand much of it though.)

Soooo.....I'm just wondering how much of a challenge people think it will be to make them so they work with Chronoforms for the new Joomla based site we are creating. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, for reference I've attached a screen print of the "checkout form". I couldn't do a screen print of the registration form because it is really long.

Thank you in advance! [file name=checkout2007.doc size=111616]http://www.chronoengine.com/images/fbfiles/files/checkout2007.doc[/file]

Hi ericbecky,

Yes this can certainly be done in ChronoForms. I'd start with the Hybridfest form, View source on the form page and copy the form html into a text editor - from <form> to </form>. Take it a chunk at a time and paste the from html into the ChronoForms Form HTML box and check out what the from looks like and that it works (you'll need to add submit button), then make a copy of the form, rename it and do the same with the second chunk and so on.

When you have all the bits working, create another new form and start putting the bits back together until you have it all working. Trying to work with a few hundred line so source makes it far to easy for small mistakes to throw you. Chunk at a time you can see the code and debug it much more easily.

The PayPal form is a little more complex but still quite practical.
