Forms not working site wide..

Thrushwood 12 Jul, 2012
Is there any reason why forms do not work site wide?

I am developing a site in joomla 2.5 with forms that should send an email and show a thank you message.

However, on submit the page just appears to reload with no email sent or thank you message displayed.

This is the same on four different forms. When using the "Form Test" function in Form Wizard mode the forms work.

I have similar forms working fine on another site and having tried everything I can think of and am now at the pulling hair out stage.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi Thrushwood,

You've given no information except to say 'they don't work' - that makes it tough to offer any suggestions :-(

At a complete guess you have the forms in articles and the SEF URL are preventing them from submitting correctly.

Hi Bob,

Yes the forms are in articles, so you may be right about the SEF URL.

However as mentioned the same form layouts work OK on another site which is also set up in the same way.

I am using sh404SEF on both sites.

If it is the SEF URL causing the problem how should I go about correcting it?

Thanks.

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Really hard to say with no specifics. Make sure that sh404SEF is set not to work on ChronoForms URLs; test by turning the SEF URLs off; try setting Relative URL to No in the form General tab.

Hi Bob,

Setting sh404SEF not to work on ChronoForms URLs appears to have solved the problem.

I would never have considered even looking at that without your help so thank you very much.

Interestingly I have never had to change this component level setting in sh404SEF before and the other site I mentioned which uses some almost identical forms works fine like that.

However it is currently running an older version of the ChronoForms component (4.0RC3.3).

Once again thanks.

Regards.

Hi Paul,

Thanks, good to know that fixed the problem.
