reload on captcha fail

letsgo 12 May, 2008
Hi,

I have a page with a form embedded into it, but if the captcha code failed (the user put in the wrong code) only the form is reloaded. That is, I get a blank page with only the form on it, not the rest of the text and stuff that was on the page before. Also, the URL changes slightly.

There must be a way to make the whole page redraw. Take the demo form on this site for example, when you fill it in and miss the captcha the whole page comes back, not just the form on a blank page.

Any idea why I get a blank page with only the form?

Thanks in advance

Hi letsgo, you mean the page comes after the failure without the website template ?

I guess now that you mention the template I'd have to say that the template is still there. Every page on the website has a common header and footer bar which stays (or comes back) after the captcha failed, but there is text on the page (not part of the form) that dissappears.

When I first go to the page the URL says this:

http://blahblah/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=71&Itemid=97

Then when the captcha fails it shows the popup box and the URL changes to this:

http://blahblah/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&task=send&chronoformname=SalesInquiryForm

and then after I press "OK" or whatever, the original URL doesn't come back so I'm left with a header, footer, and chronoform - but no additional text.

I'm sure it's a misconfiguration or something on my part, but I don't know where to look.
----- edit ------
I went and looked at the demo form here again and it's URL does the same thing - I guess it's probably because my text that is going away isn't part of the form, so I should probably just make that all part of the form?

Hi letsgo,

This is a known problem when using the mambot/plugin to embed a form. I'm not sure if Max has a fix yet though.

I think a redirect should be made in case captcha failed with a mambot, the mambot should get the redirect URL automatically or it should be provided! will add it the next release!

Hi Bob,

I am facing same problem, when submit wrong captcha it redirect on non SEF url without Itemid. So content of that page is gone away, it shows form only. I have found in forum that many users face this problem using chronocontact mambot in content.

Max found any solution for this problem?

I am using Chrono Contact 3.0 Stable. Any fix for this issue?

Thanks,
Tejas

Hi Tejas,

ChronoForms v3.0 stable is very old now. You'd be better using the current release even though it is marked as an RC.

Please set "Republish fields if error occured" to "Try to republish" on the Form Editor General tab if that exists in v3.0

Bob
