Hi everyone, I am looking for a bit of advice, My client is a graphic designer and wants me to create a form with Paypal button, the thing is he wants a 2 step process where the user pays 50% up front as a retainer eg if design costs $500 the user pays $250 as a retainer with the balance to be paid on completion. I am not sure what is the best approach, any advice much appreciated.
Thx in advance Pete.

Hi Pete,
The simplest answer is just to think of it as two payments. Take one on commission - you can use the PayPal Redirect approach to keep it simple. Then when the work is complete invoice the client for the second half. You could do this with a linked form, or an email, or a PayPal invoice.

Thx Bob I like the simple approach, one other quick question what field type would be best to use to generate a order number, and would it be difficult to link that number to the second form, maybe I could use Paypal Inv number.
Thx again Pete.

Hi Pete,
I have a Unique ID action that I use for this. Save the data to a database table before sending the user to PayPal and include the ID as an invoice number in the PayPal link. Then you can tie all the info together as needed.
