Script Bleed to Field on Submit

hpinson 16 May, 2012
Hi. \v4 RC3.

When I submit an email with the wrong captcha, and the form reloads, my email address text entry field entry user submitted entry is replaced by this: <script type='text/javascript'> <!-- var prefix = 'ma' + 'il' + 'to'; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy49348 = 'user' + '@'; addy49348 = addy49348 + 'mycompany' + '.' + 'com'; document.write('<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + ':' + addy49348 + '\'>'); document.write(addy49348); document.write('<\/a>'); //-->\n </script><script type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write('<span style=\'display: none;\'>'); //--> </script>This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. <script type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write('</'); document.write('span>'); //--> </script>

I remember we have seen this before in previous versions, but I can't remember the fix. Can you help? Thanks.

Hi hpinson,

You have the Joomla! Email Cloaking Plug-in enabled and it is trying to cloak the sample e-mail in the ChronoForms validation message. Disable the plug-in temporarily to check this is the problem. If you need the plug-in change the plug-ins order so that Email Cloaking runs before ChronoForms.

NB These are Joomla! plug-ins that you manage from Site Admin | Extensions | Plug-in Manager

Ah, of course. I know we have had this conversation before. Changing the order is the solution. The cloak is enabled by default in 2.5. I'm sure this is a common questions-- maybe create a FAQ entry if not already there?

Another small problem I noted. In the new version I am having to bounce back and forth between the Easy and Advanced editor quite a bit. During these trips, the "Show Thanks Message" text is periodically blown away. It's happened a few times now. Not sure why this is happening but thought I would let you know.

Hi hpinson,

Don't go back to the Easy Wizard, you don't need to and it will reset some of the actions. There used to be a warning message about that but I see it's gone in the current version.
