Noob output question...

cb1 08 May, 2008
Hey,

We use Chrono Forms Form Manager on a simple form in a clients Joomla website. Actually - I designed the web site and one of their IT people implemented the first form. I did not have much to do with it.

Having said that - and not knowing much about forms - they have asked me to implement a second form for them.

I have some questions:

1 - Is it safe to assume I can add the form using the Forms Manager? It would be the second form on the site not counting the default Contact Form.

This is more detailed - not knowing much about forms - How can I output the data?

Let me explain - they have a PDF Application online now. They want me to duplicate those questions in an online form - I can do that - BUT - how does one go about tailoring the output?

Output normally from a form is one long column isn't it?

2 - Is there any way to present the data on the other end in some formatted manner? How do I approach that? Do I have to hire a php programmer? Do I need something more than the Form Manager?

I am currently asking them how they expect to receive the data but have not heard back.

Any help or thoughts is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi cb1,

You can include the output from a form inside a 'normal' html page.

If you put some html into the 'OnSumbit after email' box in ChronoForms then it will be displayed when the form is submitted. You can include form data using

<?php echo $_POST['fieldname']; ?>

You may want to ask a more specific question once you have the info back.

That is great to know...

Are there any resources you know of off the top of your head I can look at to learn more about it?

Thanks! (that is very cool.)

Hi cb1,

There isn't a great deal more to learn - the best way to take the next step is to experiment. Set up a test form put some html in the box and see what happens. If you turn on DeBug for a form you'll see the $_POST array on the screen and can work out from that what values you should get in your output.
