Problem with email verification

nishant 11 May, 2012
Hi,
I am creating a registration form. I am having confusion with setting up the verification link path.

I created an event named "On email_verify" and entered following verification link path :
http://www.filliplingua.com/index.php?option=com_chronoforms&chronoform=Registration&event=email_verify

Please tell me whether the verification link path is correct?

And when i click on the verification link which we get in the email and click on that link i get this url in my website :
http://www.filliplingua.com/administrator/%7Bverification_link%7D

Why is this happening?

I have attached a screenshot of the email_verify event.

Hi nishant,

You should use a "Joomla user activation" action in order to activate a user account created through the registration action.

try to use this section only as the verification link:
index.php?option=com_chronoforms&chronoform=Registration&event=email_verify

Does it make difference ?

Hi Max,

No the verification link path did not work. Getting the same url as i mentioned in the first post.

Rest, I am using Chronoforms V4 where i have two actions "Joomla User Registration" and "Joomla user Create/Update" the action you mentioned is not given in the form. Please guide me what to do? Also, i have to use this action in the "On submit" event or "email_verify" event? Thank you.

Hi nishant,

Please upgrade to the current release of CFv4 to make sure that you have the latest actions. You can see the action list here.

Hi Bob,

This is strange. I have installed the latest version of Chronoforms V4 RC 3.3 Release date 6th April 2012. Why is it that i am not having this action which u mentioned in my Joomla Functions. I have all the rest actions available and i am using Joomla 1.5. Please help. Thank you.

Hi,

OK! i finally solved my email verification problem. There was a problem with the email template for sending email verification to the users.

BUT i still dont know why i dont have the "Joomla User activation" action in the joomla functions when i have the latest version installed. 😟

Hi nishant,

It's not in the CFv4 Joomla! 1.5 package - I just upgraded mine to check. This may be because there are some quite big changes in User management between Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5 and Max hasn't created a 1,5 version.

OK Thanks for all the help. I will try to upgrade. One last question, is it difficult to upgrade from 1.5 to 2.5?
GreyHead 14 May, 2012
Hi nishant,

That depends entirely on the site. You'll need to check that the template and all the critical extensions that you use are available for Joomla! 2.5 - and allow quite a lot of time for debugging stuff. I'd build on a test site first. You could be all done in a couple of hours; or it could take a week . . .

Hey Bob,

I finally upgraded my joomla to 2.5 and i also added the "Joomla User Activation" action but i am still not able to get the accounts activated. I think i am still facing problem with the "Verification link path". I tried lots of links but still cant get to activate the account. Sometimes i get the message - "Invalid activation code". Please help.
