I have some trouble figuring out how to make a "thank you" email sent to the user after submitting a form. Also how to display the thank you message in a lightbox instead of in the content of the main page. Is there any tutorials on this subject.

There are a series of videos here that will help you get started with CFv4. Please chesk the two about Emails.
I don't know techically how you'd get a thank you message displayed in a modal window. I guess it's possible with some clever JavaScript to submit the form using Ajax, or to open the window on page load but not a question I remember seeing before.
