This is beyond my competence to do in a CFv4 DB Save or Loader action. I'd just use a Custom Code action and hand-code the query. That takes more work but you have full control.

Hi Bob,

actually I found a rather simple way of solving that in adding zero value rows to the respective tables. when creating the dynamic select lists using custom code I simply exclude the zero value row. and with nothing selected the zero value ID would be stored in the main table. that way there will always be a match
