Unable to edit in Email Setup

ShoestringWebs 13 Apr, 2012
I have three forms that were created with no problems and are working correctly. The forms have two emails set up with fields TO, SUBJECT, DYNAMIC FROMNAME and DYNAMIC FROMEMAIL.

I wanted to edit the fields in the emails under the "Setup Emails" tab; however, all three are now bordered in red. I can edit info in the existing fields and I can delete fields, but I cannot drag new fields to the email.

I have other installations that I can open in the same browser and all function correctly.

Hi ShoestringWebs,

This is ChronoForms v3?

That sounds like the correct set of email inputs. I don't' know why you can no longer drag boxes. Is it possible that you have the MooTools Upgrade plug-in enabled on your site?

Bob

I strongly recommend that you do *not* use the Dynamic From Email element in your Email Setups. Using this often results in your emails being marked as spam and dropped into a spam filter. Instead use the static From Email with an address that matches the site domain name and use Dynamic ReplyTo Email for the user email. The result is the same but with a much better chance of good delivery.

The MooTools upgrade was the problem; thank you. I don't know why I turned it on.

I use the Dynamic FromName and FromEmail in a signup form for the email that is sent to me. Doing so allows me to identify/filter it easily in the Inbox, and easily reply. I have seen no problems so far.

I love Chronoforms and use it on several client sites... my only complaint is that the field validation doesn't work, but that's a topic for another day.

Hi ShoestringWebs,

If the Dynamic From Email works for you that's fine. It is the most common cause of emails failing so I discourage it wherever I can. Increasingly web hosts treat mismatched domains as an indicator of relaying, hence potential spam and filter those messages out.
