I administer a multi-language site(9 languages). Plugin is activated. My form is custom made though HTML, it doesn't make use of the wizard. I am trying to translate label text but it doesn't work. For instance I want to translate

<label class="cf_label" style="width: 150px;">First Name*</label>

The First Name* bit. It doesn't seem to be doing anything! I set First Name=Name and First Name=Name_other-language to the various boxes in the plugin but I don't get anything.

I've read all posts concerning the issue but it hasn't helped me as I seem to be doing everything I read on those posts. Am I missing something?

Just checking: do you have the plug-in enabled on the form plug-ins tab?

How are you switching languages? Is the Joomla! language tag showing the correct values?

Try using something like ##FIRSTNAME##=First Name and ##FIRSTNAME##=Prenom and see if any translation is taking place at all.

Yes, plugin is enabled I have the normal joomfish module that switched languages normally. When I use ##FIRSTNAME## instead of translated text I get exactly that: ##FIRSTNAME## as I wrote it. I don't think it's the right way!

Hi. Thanks for your prompt replies! Unfortunately I develop on the testweb of my company and I don't think I am not allowed to give access to other people. I might set up a test joomla environment somewhere else though and send you credentials. What I wanted to ask though was what is the specifications of these 'key phrases' anyway, I mean how are they supposed to be written in order to be recognisable from the translation plugin? Do they have to be between quotes or any other symbols, etc?

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look if that is allowed. I don't have multiple languages on my test sites which makes this a bit less easy.

Note that you can use any text as the basis for the translations so I could have used name=Nombre There are two potential problems with this. (a) It can be hard to spot which words or phrases are being translated; and (b) the code works with a simple search and replace so 'username' might become 'userNombre' unless you are careful. So I use the #NAME# style for clarity and safety.

Thanks for the form backup. Even though you had told me in your first post that this was for ChronoForms v3 my answers are for ChronoForms v4 :-(

Unfortunately with CFv3 the plug-in settings aren't included in the backup but if I set the language list to en-GB and put #Name#=Name in the first Language box then the substitution works correctly.
