Insert, Select and update

tommyhome 13 Mar, 2008
Hi,
I would like to know how I would go about making a form that gets its default details loaded by default, like if a user fills it in and then returns to the form it should be filled, ready for update.

Also, how do I go by to select info from one forms table into anoter form that creates new stuff, as for a listitem, or radiobox itemform, with predefined items in other table created with chrono.

I know how to do it in pure php, but I have no idea how crono works, and I cant seem to find the documentation.

If it works like it seems, after reading about it, I will pay for it.

Thanks
Tommy

Hi Tommy,

The way to think about ChronoForms is that it is a Forms Manager. It knows a little about form code but not much.

There are several input boxes where you can add whatever combination of PHP & HTML you like and ChronoForms will show the result on a page. Using this you can do all the things tha tyou mention.

You can add PHP in the form HTML code box to look up a user's id, collect information from a database table and show that in your form if you like.

In the OnSubmit before and after email boxes you can add php to process the results if you need to.

And If you just want a simple form you can paste your HTML into the box and ChronoForms will show the form, email you the results and save them to a table.

Have a go with something simple, then come back when you have questions.

Yeah, but I need samplecode on how to access the stuff thru it, what commands should I use?

I use Joomla 1.5x

I've already made a form that submits stuff and another that displays using the profile page method, but I need more advanced stuff than that, and I do not know the syntax chrono wants me to use in order for me to utilize it.

How would code look for doing a form that can insert, update and show data in the same form?

Would I do that with pure php/sql or are there methods within chrono that I can utilize?

And what php/sql commands should I utilize for best result?

Hi Tommy,

There are no methods within ChronoForms for you to handle data other than the simple ones that I described earlier.

There is a full range of functionality in Joomla that you can call on. I'd suggest that you take a look at the Joomla 1.5 docs.

Hi Tommy,

Its easy to do an insert/view form, just get the 2 pieces of code to insert and view(I suggest using the profiler plugin for the view function, if you need more rows then we plan to release a data viewer plugin very soon)!

So, get the 2 pieces and separate them with an if statement, if some variable is posted then this is a view, if not then its an insert!!

Cheers,

Max
