Email form stopped working

charley630 16 Dec, 2011
We had set up a quote request form using chronoforms, upon customers entering details of the quote it will send an email to our sales department with details. It has worked for a long time but lately we were told that it stopped working. However, the automatic thank you message to the customers works fine. Nothing has changed in the set up of the forms. Is there a way to troubleshoot it?

Hi charley630 ,

I strongly recommend that you do *not* use the Dynamic From Email element in your Email Setups. Using this often results in your emails being marked as spam and dropped into a spam filter. Instead use the static From Email with an address that matches the site domain name and use Dynamic ReplyTo Email for the user email. The result is the same but with a much better chance of good delivery.

Thank you for your reply.
I changed as you have suggested but still not receiving the email. Can you let me know where I can check the mail server setting? The tech support at my ISP suggested to change to alternate server.
The strange thing is that the thank you email is always received, except if it's being sent to one of the emails in our domain name.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi charley630,

The Joomla! Mail server settings are in the site Global Configuration.

Please enable Debug on your form and copy and paste the resulting info you see when you Submit the form here.

I've put my email checklist below - I think you have already done most of these.

Bob

Please check the following:

a) That 'Send Emails' is set to 'Yes' on the Form General tab

b) That you have a valid Email Setup - if the box is green it's valid, red is invalid (see d below)

c) That you have set 'Enabled' to 'Yes' in the Email Setup Properties box

d) A valid Email Setup requires To, Subject, From Name and From Email elements (or the Dynamic equivalents) in the *same* setup box.

e) The element boxes must contain strings for the static elements or valid input names from the form for the Dynamic elements.

f) The To and From Email boxes must contain valid email addresses

g) The From Email address should match the Domain name.

h) The To email address should not be the same as the From Email address.

Thank you!!
Somehow the enabled flag in the form was checked off. Now it works, many many thanks!
