Hello,
Maybe my subject is a bit confusing, but let me try to clarify my question.
Firstly I use chrono forms, and I find it excellent.
Question:
Is it possible to make a form (name, last name... whatever) and have a submit button...but... when I press submit button, form will not be e-mail nowhere, but simply stay as a filled content in Joomla?
I mean there is a made but empty form. Someone logs in my Joomla installation and simply fills it in. So it stays there for other people to see it?
I will have many different categories with structured empty forms so they can be filled, is chronoforms up to the task?
I know there are other tools like facile forms and other... but I made some forms already usgin chronoforms, and I really do not have time to relearn other tool... and BTW Chrono forms look so awesome.
Thank you
Hi Wexoni,
Sure you can do this with ChronoForms. I'm not completely clear what you are trying to do but it is certainly possible to have information input from a form and then displayed on a page. (You could even display it in the form by removing the submit button but I'm not sure this is the best way.)

Hi wex,
Sure, just set 'Email the results' to No in the General Tab; save the data to the database and use the new Profile Plugin to display he results if you need to.

Hello Bob,
I made a simple form with:
Name, lastname and submit button.
Under the general tab I have set Do not send e-mail. I can call my form using the link, and I see it. When I press submit button, it does nothing...
I am truly at loss here😟 ... can you please help me a bit here.

Hi wex,
Step 2, save to the database (use Create table to enable this).
Step 3, us the new Profile Plugin to display the results. You need to create a new form and link it to the data in the table.
But I still don't understand what you are doing. If I fill a form in and get to see a copy of the data I've entered what use is that to anyone else?

Hello Bob,
I will have several Joomla instalations on USB memory stick. There will be people that will receive those stick and they will have a task to fill a questionare.
Only logged users will be able to add/edit/delete data, while everyone else will be able to see that entered data.
Purpose is, when for example I enter my data (name, lastname, hoby, music...) and save it, I would like that some other user who gets my USB stick sees my entered data, but no be able to changer it (unless he knows a password).
So, I will have to make many forms, like:
**FORM**
Name
--Blank text box goes here--
Lastname
--Blank text box goes here--
Address
--Blank text box goes here--
Music you listen
--Blank text box goes here--
**FORM**
After I press submit button, there will be this thing displayed on the same menu field
**FORM**
Name
--Joe--
Lastname
--Smith--
Address
--Oak street 23--
Music you listen
--Queen--
**FORM**
This can be done using Joomla, but users might inadvertently delete a data structure (name, lastname...) and that is a biggest issue.
Maybe this really can be done using pure Joomla somehow installation? I don't know really😟
Hi Wex,
I'm just getting more confused. How do you put Joomla on a USB stick? It needs a webserver to run - I guess that you could put Xampp on a stick but it seems strange to me.
I think I'm missing something important???
Bob
Hello Bob,
I am using modified uniform server, that has all WAMP one might ever need.
I find Joomla perfect for my task, along with uniform server, I scored a bulls eye🙂
I used to use a U3 autostart enabled USB stick, it worked but sometimes with bugs, so I quit that option.
Now I am searching autostart Capable USB stick that is more reliable than U3.
Everything is good but that small problem I was telling you about previously🙂
Hi Wex,
Well you learn something new every day - I had no idea that was possible.
How will you store this data - in the database?
And users will be registered so that you can identify them by user id?
Does the URL have to be identical?
I think it can be done - just not sure which way works best.
Bob
Hello Bob,
This WAMP-ed USB Joomla acts exactly like live version, just instead of www stands localhost. Everything else is identical... just way more faster🙂
Users will have a default user/pwd (which they can change if they like). Basically they can only change data for the existing user (name, login name and password) so I believe user ID will remain as it is.
What do you mean by URL being identical?

Vedran🙂
Hello Bob,
Thank you for your time and effort. I will try this ASAP and get back with you🙂
Thank you.
