License Questions

krackerjax 03 Dec, 2007
In the coding, it states:

<!-- You are not allowed to remove or edit the above 3 lines anyway if you didnt buy a license -->

It states that you cannot "edit" those lines without a license, but is there some leeway in regards to what you can "edit"? I ask this because the only modification I want to do is to center that text and have it open in to a new window. If someone clicks on that link the way it currently is, then they will be taken away from my website.

Below is the modified coding I would like to be able to do without a license:
<div class="chronoform" align="center">
<a href="http://www.chronoengine.com" target="_blank">Joomla Professional Work</a>
</div>
I truly don't mind the advertisement. I think ChronoForms is an awesome component and will let everyone I know about it that uses Joomla!. As stated, my only true issue is the URL target. I don't even run Google AdSense because Google prohibits you from being able to have ads open in a new window. Google AdSense may be great, but to me, it's not worth having what little visitors I do get taken from my site.<br><br>Post edited by: GreyHead, at: 2007/12/03 10:57

Hi karackerjax,

The license terms are for Max to comment on but here's a note from the Home page here that might be helpful

However, in order to allow everybody to still use the component and even get out of this, the link is inside a div with class : chronoform , use this to hide the link by using different colors or whatever if you really can't pay, but of course the link is still exists at your page source.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had read that, but I find it confusing. The reason is that basically people are getting permission, in a way, to circumvent the footer mark.

My request, I feel, shouldn't be rejected (hopefully) as I'm not even trying to hide anything. I really want people to find out about this plugin. It's very versatile.

When I get more time I want to concentrate on possibly creating an error page or something since any mistakes cause the form to be reloaded. I also want spend more time tinkering around and learning more about different ways of implementing forms.

I haven't really seen a form tool this versatile since Bebosoft's FormsToGo. The FTG program, though, creates stand-alone form processors (asp, php, or perl), whereas this is similar, but for Joomla!

Hi krackerjax,

It's not my extension so I can't answer for Max but I think that it's safe to say that you can make any reasonable css or formatting changes provided that the link is still in your page source, and if it's clearly visible on the form that's even better.

Bob

PS, If you look around you'll find that there is code in the forums to keep the form data in case of an error on submission. IIRC Max has also posted a client side verification.

Hi minilalniemand,

Are you using the mambot? If so you may need to remove it from there too? Otherwise it's only in that one place afaik.

Question. I am intending to purchase the license. But if I create my form first to make sure it can be done as I want to, will purchasing the license erase or undo any of the work I have done?
