Backup forms and email reply

ciaran 10 Oct, 2011
An excellent component. After installing and studying it for a while I managed to get my head around the basics fairly easy. But I still have a few issues that I need help with.

Firstly I am running Joomla 1.7 with Chrono forms v4.
I am using Chronoforms for an registration for for an event. I have about 15 fields in the form, name, age, t-shirt size, email, etc... and a submit button at the bottom of the form. The details are sent to the database and a email account.

I was having an issue with the users details been entered twice in the database and I would also received 2 emails with their details to my admin email. I solved this by turning off the Chrono forms plugin. I wanted to mention this as this solved my problem but is this ok to do?

The main problem Im having is with the Backup forms link. When I download the excel file and open it all I see is gibberish text like this; YmxlZCI7czoxOiIxIjtzOjY6InBhcmFtcyI7c. I can download the database perfectly from Mysql. Any ideas?

One final question I have is how do I go about sending an automatic email back to the person that has registered saying Thank you for registering?

Thats it sorry if my email is long winded I just wanted to get everything down just in case.

Thanks,
Ciaran

Hi Ciaran,

Disabling the plug-in is fine if you aren't using it. I'm not clear why it might cause the double emails.

The Backup Forms icon backs up the forms themselves, not the form data. There isn't a data exporter yet in the released version, there is an 'extra' very flexible CSV Export [GH} action I built that you can get from here.

To send a mail to the User, drag an second Email action into the OnSubmit event, click the Dynamic tab and put the name of the email input in the To Email box; then add Subject, From Name & From Email on the Static tab.

Hi Bob thank you so much for you quick and detailed response I really appreciated it. I followed your instructions and everything worked perfectly.
I am using the form for online registration for a race and hope to integrate it with RealEx online payment. Entry for the race is €20, so I was wondering where should I add this on the form and what sort of element should I use for this.

Hi again Bob as I said I hope to use RealEx as mean of payment on my site. As Im fairly new to this game do you offer any way of gateway payment for realex or any way of making it easier for me! 😀
I was talking to realex and it seem quite daunting.

Any advice greatly appreciated,
Ciarán
