v4 & J! 1.6.3. not sending emails after submit

Erik66 17 Jul, 2011
I have a Joomla! 1.6.3 site with CF 4 RC1.9. I have created 1 form, I published it and I'm not using dynamic substitutions for email to, reply, subject, etc. The email has a template, it is enabled. Cache is disabled on the site, I even manually disabled write access to the cache directory.

Whatever I try, the form does submit but never an email arrives. I'm a bit stuck. I followed all threads with similar issues but none apply to my specific situation.

Does anybody have a suggestion on how to find out what is going wrong ? Thanks in advance,

Erik

Hi Erik,

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

Does your site send emails OK?

Hi Erik,

You have set a 'Submit URL' for the form - note the little message under the box that says "Adding a submit URL will disable all the form "on submit" event functions." And that includes the emails.

To ReDirect the User you need to switch to Advanced Edit and drag a ReDirect User action into the OnLoad event - it should stay as the last action. (Note: don't switch back to Easy Mode again - you may lose form settings if you do.)

Hello Bob,

thank you, this solved it๐Ÿ™‚. I saw the warning about the submit url setting, but did not understand that 'events' included the sending of the email. Actually, this is one poitn where v4 really is different from v3. No compaints, I like v4 very much, but I did not realize the difference in behavior here.

Thanks for a great component and swift and good support Bob!

Erik
