email validation in Joomla registration form?

Chacapamac 04 Jul, 2011
I wonder how chronoform validate the email fields in a Joomla registration form...

It is possible that the form test the email before submitting???

I say that because I have a form and when the email is not valid (even with a good link — e.g. mailtome@domain.com) but not going anywer (Mail Daemon failure) It seem to not send the form until a valid real email is enter?

Hi Chacapamac,

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question.

ChronoForms will only validate the input as an email if you set it to include an email validation.

It does not check if the email is already registered unless you add code to do that except in the Jooma Registration plug-in ehich included checks to make sure that the email and usernames are unique.

It’s because I’m trying to troubleshoot a problem with a Joomla (Chronoforms) Registration

Here —> http://www.editionzoneshockey.com/en/journal-subscription

Press Go

Problem: Some legitimate users have difficulty to finish their registration as the form never validate????

Exemple:
Name (Field required) : Gilles Vachet
Username (Field required) : Gilles
Email (Field required + email form (@) : gvachet@journalmtl.com
Password (Field required) : gillesvachet
Select your group i](Field required) : Anything
Name of your organisation (NOT REQUIRED)

What I try:
If I use the normal Joomla registration (Not Chrono) with the login infos of the exemple the user was created but never fully register as the validation email is going nowhere (faulty email address).

I was thinking that chrono was testing the email before validating, but you tell me that it is not the case...

Do you have an idea for the problem?
Note: The Joomla user “Gilles Vachet” and that email was deleted in joomla and no other actual registered users have similar login infos

Hi Chacapamac,

I went to the link but there is no form there - just a magazine that messed with my browser layout :-(

I've read your message but I don't understand what the problem is. Where is the form and exactly what do I have to do to get the error?

To access ChronoForm:
1— http://www.editionzoneshockey.com/en/journal-subscription

2— click the big red button “GO

Just a note: — You said —>

This page and form was tested on Mac - PC — Explorer, Safari, Firefox and plus.... What do you mean by “messed with my browser layout”

If you enter that following login information :
Name (Field required) : Gilles Vachet
Username (Field required) : Gilles
Email (Field required + email form (@) : gvachet@journalmtl.com
Password (Field required) : gillesvachet
Select your group i](Field required) : Anything

Note:
If I use the normal Joomla registration (Not Chrono) with the same login infos, the user is created in Joomla jos_user but never fully register as the validation email is going nowhere (faulty email address).

Meaning that the same login infos work in the core Joomla registration but dont work passing by that chronoform registration form — I really dont understand the reason why (if it’s not the invalid email adress)

Hi Chacapamac ,

Sorry, I clicked all over the place - but not on the red button and ust have hit the 'Sample' image instead. That's the one that messes up my browser layout.

From the errors I'd guess that the input names aren't matching up in the Joomla Registration action configuration. Hard to be any more helpful than that.
