Chronoforms looks like it should work, but it doesn't

tfk 28 Jun, 2011
I installed Chronoforms v4 on Joomla 1.5.23. The wizards display the elements, but I can't drag them. If I click New from the Forms Manager, a page opens and I can enter text and change options, but the Code tab doesn't open when I click it.

When I click Save, nothing happens, and when I return to the Forms Manager, the list is empty.

I installed and enabled the Mootools upgrade. I've tried it in Firefox and Chrome.

What am I missing?

Hi tfk,

There's something wrong with the MooTools setup. You shouldn't need to install anything for that, just enable the Plug-in that is included with Joomla!.

Please post a link to the form so we can take a quick look.

Unfortunately, I can't create a form--on the New Form page, I can enter a name and change options (though I don't change anything), but when I click Save, nothing happens. Cancel, however, does work.

I didn't realize that the Mootools upgrade was included in Joomla! (I've been maintaining a Joomla! site for a year or so, but this is the first time I've started from scratch.)

Hi tfk,

Sounds like a JavaScript problem somewhere. By all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Thanks, Bob, I'm impressed by your interest in helping. I decided to start from scratch again, since my trial hosting period is ending and having a clean slate will be nice. When I get to Chronoforms (and I will--they've worked great on the site I'm maintaining), if I have any problems I'll be in touch.

I think I'm having this same problem.

Chrono 4, Joomla 1.5

any help appreciated.

I am also having this same problem. I cannot drag and drop or get anything to work. Is it a moo tools thing? Am I missing a plugin. I am using joomla 1.5.23.
GreyHead 15 Jul, 2011
Hi tonicarr & nanacyh,

You probably don't have the MooTools Upgrade Plugin enabled. This is an optional plug-in that enables the MooTools 1.2 library on your Joomla! 1.5 site.

If you enable the plug-in then ChronoForms v4 should run correctly. Note that enabling the plug-in will install the MooTools 1.2.5 library and this may affect other extensions on your site if they depend on MooTools 1.1.12.

Hi nancyh,

It's a standard Joomla plugin installed as part of Joomla from 1.5.19 on. Please check Site Admin | Extensions | Plugin Mananger.

And probably best to uninstall the plugin you found.

I have system: mootools upgrade v. 1.5 enabled.

At this point, it's possible that the mootools upgrade I installed from the prior link replaced the system plugin because there is no mootools upgrade plugin that I am able to uninstall.

Maybe if I reinstall the core mootools upgrade plug in it will overwrite the one now there (if indeed it's wrong?)...if so, although I realize the mootool upgrade plug in you are referring to comes with the core install, is there any place I can go to reinstall this or do I just need to reinstall joomla from the beginning??
GreyHead 15 Jul, 2011
Hi nancyh,

It's most unlikely that it has been overwritten :-(

Which version of Joomla do you have? The MooTools upgrade plugin was introduced at Joomla v1.5.19

Hi nancyh,

Everything looks fine and I was able to create a form with no problems.

I wonder if it's a browser issue. Which browser are you using?

Bob
nancyh 15 Jul, 2011
Bob, you are indeed the troubleshooting wizard!

I was using Firefox 5.0 and when I looked for that info I realized I had an update waiting. Am now using Firefox 5.0.1 and the drag and drop is working.

grrrr

all's well that end's well?

I do thank you for your help.

I installed Chronoform on Joomla 1.5.23 .It has the standard Mootools Upgrade installed

I cant get the Form Wizard ( Drag and Drop ) to work.
I am using Firefox 5.0.1 on Windows 7
GreyHead 19 Jul, 2011
Hi marrett,

Have you checked which version of MooTools is being loaded on your site?

Please post or PM me a link to the site so I can take a quick look.

Hi marrett,

The site is still loading MooTools 1.12 and it appears that the Joomla! Plug-ins Manager is broken so it isn't possible to see if the MooTools Upgrade Plug-in is enabled or not.

ChronoForm V4 requires that your site loads MooTools 1.2.5+. If for any reason this isn't possible you can still use ChronoForms v 3.2

I have the same problem. I cannot drag and drop anything. I'm on Joomla 1.5.23, I have the Mootools upgrade plugin enabled, and I've tested in Firefox 5.01 and Chrome 13.0.782.112 m. I will PM login details.
GreyHead 11 Aug, 2011
Hi keenmouse,

There's a JavaScript error on the admin pages that appears to be related to a VirtueMart module. Please check to see if they have a fix - though I'm not sure that VirtueMart will run with MooTools 1.2.5.

Bob
keenmouse 12 Aug, 2011
Ah, yes, I see the '$("vmpo") is null' error. I don't have VirtueMart installed, but this must be from some other component that can interface with VirtueMart. I'll figure out what it is and disable it. Thanks for your help!

I am too having this problem.

I am using Joomla 1.5.23
ChronoContact 3.2
mootools 1.2.5 (Enabled in plugins)
Firefox 6.0
Chrome 13.0.782.112m

I am not getting any errors on page load on both internet browsers.
Here is the screenshot:

I also have ChronoForms V4 installed and its working excellent.
GreyHead 22 Aug, 2011
Hi codeslayer,

ChronoForms v4 requires the MooTools upgrade plug-in **enabled**.

ChronoForms v3 requires the MooTools upgrade plug-in **disabled**.

hammerman47 23 Nov, 2011
Same problem here..nothing I do will make the V4 version drag elements, I have the plugin enabled, v1.2.5 looks like im going back to version 3
disapointed
GreyHead 24 Nov, 2011
Hi hammerman47,

Use the web develop rool sin your browser to check which version of MooTools is actually being loaded. It's possible that cached scripts or some other component are still loading MooTools 1.12
