emails not sent anymore

tobias 03 Jan, 2011
Hi,

something very strange has happened. I have ChronoForms set up as a contact form on one of the websites I manage. It worked well, but now mails don't come trough anymore. The last one that did was November 4th. Nothing has been changed on the site, ChronoForms, the forms, etc... It is a mystery to me...

Do you have any idea what is going on? I tried to run in debug mode. The mail looked OK and the message at the bottom read:

1. Form passed first SPAM check OK
   2. Form passed the submissions limit (if enabled) OK
   3. Form passed the Image verification (if enabled) OK
   4. Form passed the server side validation (if enabled) OK
   5. $_POST Array: Array ( [text_2] => test [text_4] => test [text_3] => 234089 [check0] => Array ( [0] => yes please! ) [text_7] => trinsche@mindmechanics.net [text_20] => gfdas [text_29] => sdf [text_30] => http://www.htm.com [select_17] => Europe [radio1] => Governmental Agency [text_11] => asdfwgas [check2] => Array ( [0] => Translation ) [check3] => Array ( [0] => The Language of Innovation ) [chrono_verification] => VwmtC [button_31] => Submit [3220d25d4a176a5cd6388edd0a941c97] => 1 [1cf1] => f978921252aabf7feb41a1866c0728e4 [chronoformname] => Contact_US )
   6. $_FILES Array: Array ( )
   7. Form passed the plugins step (if enabled) OK
   8. An email has been SENT successfully from [correct address] to [correct address]
   9. Debug End

the results are mailed to two different addresses on two different servers and neither rejected them or identified the mails as spam up to now.

Thanks!
Tobias

Hi tobias,

Well clearly something has changed on the site. Typically this happens when your ISP upgrades their spam filters in some way. I suggest that you check with them. I've posted an email check list below items g & h might be helpful.

Bob

Please check the following:

a) That 'Send Emails' is set to 'Yes' on the Form General tab

b) That you have a valid Email Setup - if the box is green it's valid, red is invalid (see d below)

c) That you have set 'Enabled' to 'Yes' in the Email Setup Properties box

d) A valid Email Setup requires To, Subject, From Name and From Email elements (or the Dynamic equivalents) in the *same* setup box.

e) The element boxes must contain strings for the static elements or valid input names from the form for the Dynamic elements.

f) The To and From Email boxes must contain valid email addresses

g) The From Email address should match the Domain name.

h) The To email address should not be the same as the From Email address.

Thanks! Unfortunately all the items in the list are OK. As I said, the forms were being sent perfectly before. Do you have any other ideas? The host claims that no changes were made on their end...

I just updated the site to Joomla 1.5.22 and ChronoForms 3.2 (made no difference). It runs on Plesk 9.3.0.

Thanks!

Hi STARGroup,

Nothing important has changed in ChronoForms - so it's pretty much got to be something in the site configuration.

By all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

It's my observation that this complexity of settings to enable email seems like overkill. And I know that v4 is at RC status, so not really complaining, much.

There's also a bug wherein Dynamic CC seems to suppress that Enabled box in the Email Setup. I was trying to economize by including a Dynamic CC to the submitter, but will just create another.

Best,
K

Hi there

I have exactly the same problem as Tobias. We have changed absolutely nothing and have not received a form since the 12 December

I have gone through the tick list as suggested and as far as I can see everything is OK - although I am not a developer/coder.

The forms are an important part of our site so would really appreciate your assistance as soon as you can.

Many thanks

Guy
