Hi there
We have three form set up on our site https://hi-tech-online-store.com under "Home".
They all work fine when using a Mac and Firefox and Safari but on Windows IE the recaptcha field does not show up.
Please advise!

Hi Johan,
I tested the sample requestform and the ReCaptchs shows up in IE7 and IE8. There is an HTTPS warning; and a JavScript error somewhere on the page but provided that you click through those all is well.
The Chrome console reports:

Hi Bob
yes, I have been working on this all night. The animation on top of the sample request form is the culprit for the htpps warning. I will work on that.
I really like the chronoforms but the way it functions is not very intuitive and could use a logical and nice looking quick set up manual. If you want one done, let me know.

Hi Johan,
Great - glad you got it fixed.
You can always get the ChronoForms Book of course, that might save you some time :-)

Hi Bob
I frankly think it is a rip off to sell a piece of software or a plugin and then force the customers to buy a book to be able use it - all other software I buy comes with a complete manual. Rather increase the cost of the plugin and include the book. 😀

Hi Johan,
You're entitled to your opinion of course. Just to be clear, Max developed the software and the license fees go to him. But for most users that's free.
I do support here pretty much as a volunteer and I wrote the book, I do theoretically at least get a royalty on that - but so far only an advance from the publisher.
There are some basic tutorials here - though rather out of date now I agree. There's also a vast amount of information here in the forums, in the FAQs and on my site - most of which is free. No-one is forced to buy anything.
It is your choice, if you want free help with your free software then I think that you probably get a lot more than you pay for. If you want that distilled into a more structured form and to benefit from the time it took to learn and write the content then the price of the book comes pretty cheap - IMHO.

Hi Bob
I am paying for this software.
I find it extremely arrogant to let paying customers spend days searching forums just to get their plugin to function correctly. There is a lack of instructions, intuitive interface, documentation but most of all user guides and walk through step by step instructions that could minimize the time people have to spend just to get the forms to work on their site.
The functionality is great but this plugin should be sold stating that users will need to know PHP, Javascript and spend at least 20 hours going through the forums before they can expect this plugin to work the way the want.
I am a computer journalist who have been writing over 1000 articles in MacWorld and published many other articles in other IDG publications. I have a fair amount of testing and trying out of a wide range of software in my past. It is important for developers to hire someone else to do their documentation and manuals since they always tend to look at their software from the inside out whilst the end user approaches it from the outside in.
If the user interface is this complicated and the steps are: "Oh, so you want a wheel on the car you bought, then look under the right back seat and twist three times on the blue knob - then you will get it. If you want to attach it, buy my book or learn some code (which basically would allow you to write your own forms anyway). And if you want the right back wheel to turn in the same direction as the other three, check a post in the forums I saw some time ago. Good Luck!"
That is the sum of my experience with Chronoforms until today. The plugin is fantastic but it really need to be adjusted to fit normal users, not skilled programmers. If the user interface can not be made simpler (the wizard is a great start), then at least the developer could hire someone to create a set of video tutorials which covers all aspects of the plug in.
If this is done, I am sure we all would love to pay up to $50 just to get everything from start. My time is expensive and the hours I have spent so far on this plugin would have bought me a real car!

Hi Johan,
I'm not quite sure what point you are making here. If I understand you correctly it seems to be that you'd prefer to have more for your $25. If so then please take that up with Max through the Contact Us link above.
As a journalist I guess you expect to be paid for your work. As a author it would be nice to be paid for mine, I'm sorry that you don't see it that way.

Hi Bob
Why don't you team up with Max and make a deal with him to make your book the manual? That would save us all thousands of hours, give you more sales (get a part of the increased sales price) and everyone would benefit? Why do you make this an issue for the customer to sort out for you and the developer?
This is part of my point - it seems very odd for me as a customer to see you allover the forums, giving sorta answers while trying to sell your book. It seems like a nasty cat and mouse game to me. As a customer I think it is very odd indeed - why not make things easier for us who pay and sue this plugin - that would eventually lead to more sales, greater popularity and greater success!

Hi Johan,
I agree that might be a good thing to do. Unfortunately it's not 'my' book to sell in that sense; I wrote it as a contracted author to Packt Publishing; it's their book to sell. Maybe there is a deal to be done between Max and Packt but I haven't seen any signs of interest so far.
I do work quite hard not to push the book here. It's in my signature, sure. And I mention it - usually as a PS - to replies where it might be useful. More often I link to the free extracts that are available.
Also remember that you are in a distinct minority in buying a ChronoForms license. Quite a few copies do get sold I believe but it's a tiny proportion of the downloads and users of the free version.
