use form as workplan

Hi i was wondering if we can use the chronoform system as a work plan. i require to set date, bartender meeting time etc, the form works fine in the backend, is it possible to lock the front end display so the content cannot be changed. The dropdowns are needed at the back end to choose bartender name also the calender is great to sort out dates but is it possible to lock them at the front end...

Hi Gary m,

I'm not completely sure what you want to do here but the answer is - Yes, it is possible.

If you use the Profile plug-in you can set it in 'view' or 'edit' mode and can make data view only. You'd probably need two copies of the form - one for viewers and one for user-admins. I prefer not to let user-admins have access to the back end of the site unless absolutely necessary.

This may be better as a ChronoConnectivity (for the list) + ChronoForms (for the view/edit) application.

Hi Bob, thanks for the reply, useage is based on our "shift plan" we create a shift plan once a month covering that month, i need to post it on the site, the drop downs and calender save lots of time instead of typing in all the staff names, i also need to be able to adjust it if staff change shifts with each other. At the same time i dont want them to alter it themselves, past experience says its bound to go wrong, system now is they sms each other and organise the swap, and both members of staff sms me to confirm the change, however i need then to update the website so others dont ring the same staff thinking they are free, thats the problem with the system we have now its scanned in and cant be altered. I have downloaded the plugin, how do i choose edit or view please. Gary

Hi Gary m,

The profile plug-in is included with the standard ChronoForms installation*.

It will work for this provided that your schedule is stored in a single database record.

To use it - if you have an existing form then open the Email template tab, click the HTML icon to open the HTML window and copy the template HTML.

Create a new form and paste the template HTML into the Form Code | Form HTML box. Give the form a name and save it.

Click the check box by the new form name then the Profile Page link in the left hand column of the Form Manager to open the plug-in configuration dialogue.

Set the table name to the table where the data is stored, then select the column you want to use to identify a record in the Target field name box; lastly set a parameter name in the 'Request@ parameter name box. - something like sid for schedule id maybe.

Save the plug-in settings and enable the plug-in on the plug-ins tab of the new form.

If you now call the form and add &sid=xxx to the url (where xxx is a valid record id) then you should see a non-editable display of the form info.
