Email is blank (except for IP address)

mjwillyone 21 May, 2010
Dear Friends,

I created a form and have everything working correctly. The e-mail worked great. Then I added more fields to the form. When I looked at the e-mail setup, I noticed that the new form fields were not included in the e-mail. Seeing the Chronoforms red-colored text on the e-mail setup page that stated that a blank setup page would produce an e-mail similar to the form, I deleted all of the e-mail configuration text.

Well, now the e-mail is blank except for the IP address. What can I do to make this work again? I would rather not simply create a new form since I want to know what I have done wrong so if I change a form again I can get things right.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

You have to delete **all** the contents from the Email Template - including the bits you can't see. Click the HTML icon in the editor and you probably see some odds and ends left there. Delete them and all should be well.

Dear Bob,

Thank you very much. That did it!

I am having the same problem.
I have a multipage form (mother and 3 children).
All the data is stored right in the database, but the mail I get contains only an ip address.
The email template seems to be empty, but I cannot find the "HTML icon in the editor" Where is this icon?
Thanks

Hi jfmateos,

ChronoForms can't create an email template for a mult-step form*.

There are two ways round this. One is to hand-code the email template - usually in the mother form.

The second is to create a temporary form; copy and paste the Form HTML from all the steps into it in the correct order. Create an Email Setup and Apply the form to create the template; then copy and paste the template into the Mother Form.

I don't remember if the Mother Form can correctly use the {field_name} syntax but a quick test will tell you.

* It creates the template by copying the Form HTML and none of the steps in a multi-page form have all the HTML.
