Database not showing results

carlymyman 04 Mar, 2010
Hi -
I am having trouble with capturing the data from my form. I followed the tutorial from the "Saving data to the database" pdf.
Everything seemed to go ok except I never came across the option mentioned in the tutorial to: "check the 'Create Column?' box". As I said, I was not presented with that choice/screen at any point.
After I finished, I tested it and the table and database were created but none of my actual information from the text fields were displayed, only the Field name,Field Data,cf_id,recordtime,ipaddress and cf_user_id displayed.
I'm new to databases and tables and I am uncertain where I may have gone wrong.
You have always been spot-on with your advice and I was hoping you might steer me in the right direction again...
Perhaps I need to start again and create a new table?
Which leads me to ask how I can delete the existing table - I tried doing so through phpmyadmin but didn't see the table/database. I also couldn't see how I could delete it by using the tables manager. Any advice on that?
Lastly, I also can not get my check box output to display in the output(email). The rest displays fine but not the check box items. I looked through some of the posts in the forum but again, couldn't figure it out. When I created my form there are no field names shown on the right hand side as happens with the other text fields. Don't know how to proceed with fixing that problem.
I tried to leave the Emails Templates blank to see if that might work but resulted in no information at all in the output(email).

I will gladly supply any/all info needed to help you figure out what could be the problem. Please just let me know what you would need.
The site is : http://www.helpinghand.za.org/and the form is brought up by clicking in the top right panel "log in or sign-up"
(I am using ChronoForms_V3.1_RC5.5 as well as the latest Plugin-in and Module.)

Thank you so much for your time and advice.

Sincerely

Carl

Hi carlyman,

In the latest version the checkboxes are replaced with red and green bars. Green bars are s'selected', red bars are 'ignored' - so my guess is that you didn't select the form fields.

You should be able to drop the table from PHPMyadmin, or from the ChronoForms Table manager.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my queries. Your response was extremely quick, I must say.
I looked a little deeper into the check boxes that were not displaying its output in the email and I managed to find a way to make that work. (I looked in the AutoGenerated Code and saw the fields for the check boxes: check0 and check1 respectively. I included that manually in the Emails Template and that seemed to do the trick). I'm happy that's working.
I am however, unable to make any headway with the database not showing the results.
I include a screenshot of the table in case it alerts you to any obvious errors.

In the output the text_14, text_15 etc displays but not its filled in data.
I am at a loss of how to fix this problem and would very much appreciate assistance with figuring it out, if you have the time and the patience...

Once more, thank you for you support thus far.

Respectfully,

Carl

Hi Carl,

Please check the current thread with stevenlips as he had exactly the same problem - there no need for me to repeat those posts here. (Yours may have a different cause though).
