Validation error message size, colour and font

I am really new to this and although I have managed to design a form and get it to work I am having a problem with the colour and size of the text displayed when a validation error occurs. Is it possible to alter this at all and, if so, how.

Yes, it's styled with CSS so you can check what is being applied and change it.
