Form disappeared after using Wizard Edit

jewettrj 17 Feb, 2010
I installed chronoforms on our Joomla website yesterday. I built our first form and was pleased at how easy it was to publish a relatively powerful form. I spent quite a bit of time exploring and tweaking the form until I thought it was presentable. Today I wanted to add some text to the form. I used Wizard Edit and drag the text item to the form and typed in the text I wanted. I wanted to add some white space between it and the next element, so I just hit the return key (MacBook Pro keyboard/Safari browser) thinking it would give me a new blank line in the text edit box. The page immediately went back to Forms Management. The form was no longer listed. Instead, I only saw this listed:

# Form ID Name Link Emails Tables Publish
1 3 <blank> index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname= 0 <blank> √

I tried using the Change button, but I could tell there was nothing there to work with. Is there any way I can get this form back?

Hi jewettrj,

It sounds as though the name got deleted when you re-saved it.

If you click the checkbox you can re-open it with the Wizard Edit or with the Form Edit icon, add a name and re-save.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply. I didn't re-save the form, I was editing it again using Wizard Edit. When I pressed the return key while editing one of the form items the screen just flipped back to Forms Management with the display I described in my first post. The name I used for the form was also blank in Forms Management page. One of the first things I did then was click on the box and try Wizard Edit again and this is the message I get:

"Sorry but this form was not created using the wizard"

Hi Rob,

You used to be able to do that by clicking on or hitting enter while creating a submit button. I thought that Max had fixed that though.

Are you able to rename the form by using the Edit Form icon?

Bob,

I'll try your suggestion. I can get into the Form Edit area but I didn't want to change anything there if it would overwrite the ability to retrieve this form.

Bob,

Is the "Change" icon what you are referring to as "Edit Form". When I check the box and click on Change, all of the info has default settings and nothing I set is there. I am concerned about giving it the same name I saved the original form as. I look to your guidance on this.

Hi Rob,

I don't know where 'Change' is, I'm talking about the 'Edit' icon in the Forms Manager Toolbar.

If in doubt use the 'Copy form' icon to make a copy first - though I fear you may have lost the content.

Bob,

I tossed in the towel and rebuilt the form. I'm taking advantage of the BACKUP feature once I am done.

BTW, here are the menu items as they appear on my Forms Manager page:
Publish
Unpublish
New
Copy form
Change
Delete
Transform Form
Wizard Edit
Create table
Tables Manager
Backup Form
Backup Forms
Restore Form(s)
Parameters

"Change" is the only one that does editing except for the "Wizard Edit".

Hi Rob,

Interesting. Here's what I see in the latest release.

I think that icon set (including 'backup forms') only appears in the latest release so one of us must have something in the installation that is changing the caption for the Edit/Change icon.
