Setup Emails issue

grant_hood 15 Oct, 2009
Hi there

I've setup Chronoforms today and pretty much got it up and running but I have come across one issue that I can't seem to sort out.

I've created a basic form and embedded it onto my page at http://www.granthood.co.uk/jcms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=6. I've also successfully enabled the email address and form submissions are appearing in my inbox. However, the From name and email values aren't making it onto the emails. For some reason, when I enter those values on the Setup Emails page, they don't appear to be saving when I click on either the Apply or Save buttons. I have deleted this email and created new ones from scratch a couple of times and entered all of the required values so the border becomes green and I can enable the address. However, if I save and leave the area before going back in again, the From details have gone and it's reverted to just having the To email address and the Subject, which are the only values that seem to be making it onto the form emails. Could this be a Permissions issue and I have to CHMOD a file somewhere to get these values to save properly?

If you need to see it doing this for yourself, please let me know and I'll PM you superadministrator login details.

Thanks a lot - Grant

Quick edit - It's version 3.1 RC5.2 with Plugin 3.1 RC5.5. Viewing the site in IE8. Cheers - Grant

Hi Grant,

The only time I know that this happens if is there are invalid entries in the fields.

By all means email or PM me a SuperAdmin login.

Hi Bob

Thanks for the reply.

I have been dragging the Dynamic Fromname and Dynamic FromEmail elements across but leaving them blank, because I assumed that they would be populated automatically by the fields entered by the person filling the form out.

I've just had a look in the Form Control panel and it says on the hover tips for those two elements that they will use the values from the appropriate fields in the form (name and email) but that the wizard will let me pick one of the fields I picked in step one. Am I supposed to pick something once I've selected these dynamic elements? I can't see where.

Sounds like I'm probably just not doing things correctly but I'll PM you login details anyway.

Cheers - Grant

Hi Grant,

You need to put the input names in there - I just type them in (no quotes, no brackets). I've never used this part of the Wizard :-(

Thanks Bob

Sorted it all out by building a new form from scratch and configuring the dynamic recipients at that stage (something I didn't do the first time round). For some reason, going back in to edit a form once it had already been set up stopped me from being presented with the dynamic fields pop-up selector.

I'm a lot clearer about how it works now so my next job is to sort out the formatting.

Cheers again - Grant
