I recently moved a dev site to a live site and I'm experiencing a strange hanging when saving a form using the wizard edit.
If i do a standard edit and save - everything works OK, however the attached screen is displayed (hangs) if I do a wizard save ?
Hi nisiwi,
Could be a permissions issue? Does anything show up if you use Firebug?
Bob
Hi nisiwi,
Surely does, try clearing the browser cache and see if that clears it.
Or it could be a problem with a tooltip in the form html as ChronoForms now evaluates the code on save :-(
Bob
Bob,
Cache was cleaned and I tried on another client also to be sure.
There is only one simple tool tip, however I edited the form HTML code and removed
<a class="tooltiplink" onclick="return false;"><img height="16" border="0" width="16" class="tooltipimg" alt="" src="components/com_chronocontact/css/images/tooltip.png"/></a>
<div class="tooltipdiv">Enter Code :: Help us to avoid spam by filling in this box to verify that you are human and not a spam bot.</div>
However it reappered in the form wizard ?
Also if I do a form preview I also get the same error message ?

Hi Nic,

Bob
bob,
do you want me to upload a back up of the form ?
all these forms were created on the dev server using the wizard just fine (no problems with save etc) - i moved over the site and thats when the troubles started, should I try overwriting the chronoforms files to be sure there is not a damaged file caused during upoload / site move
nic
hmmm, Ok I've upgraded and for some reason (after reinstall) the forms were erased, however the upside is the new forms with image verification now work on pages, however the form save problem has reared its ugly head once again
I can create a form using the form wizard but I just cant save it, in both IE and FF ?
Any ideas on how I sort this ?
Hi nisiwi,
If the site is on-line and it's OK with you please PM or email me a SuperAdmin logon and I'll take a quick look.
Bob
Thanks Bob,
I've just PM'd you with details.
Nic.
Bob,
Did you get a change to have a look ? Any thoughts and what's causing the problem ?
Nic
Hi nisiwi,
Yes I took a look and I couldn't see any obvious casue I'm afraid. I wondered if it was Gears but I installed that locally and thre is no problem on my test site.
I just looed again and notice that the admin home page doesn't load properly - it hangs before completion. Again I can't see what is causing this but it does look like there might be a corrupt file somewhere.
Bob
Thanks bob,
When you say the admin home page does not load properly can you describe what happens as I cannot replicate / dont see that problem from my side ?
I will also try removing some addons like gears to see if it uncovers anything just in case.
Nic
Hi Nic,
A bit hard to describe but in FireFox I have a little blue 'loading' bar at the bottom right of my browser window and it never quite reaches 100%
I also tried running YSlow on it but that didnt complete either. But no error messages :-(
Bob
When I save I get this error message:
Error: $E("div.tooltipdiv", ed.getParent().getParent()) is null
Source File: /administrator/components/com_chronocontact/js/smoothbox/smoothbox.js
Line: 422
Intersting I just got this after creating a very simple form with text only and then saving it;
Warning: The 'charCode' property of a keyup event should not be used. The value is meaningless.
Source File: /administrator/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&task=form_wizard

Hi Nic,
Just confirms my view that there is something 'different' about the setup on your site. I don't eee this error and non-one else has reported it here.
Unfortunately I know nothing about the internal code of the Form Wizard.
Bob
Well, unfortunately due to a lack of interest in fixing this problem ( which I was sure was not a set-up problem as everything else worked ) I ditched ChronoForm in the end and bought RSFOrm Pro which is absolutely rock solid and reliable.
Aint gonna ditch it yet. Gonna work through the tutorials to see if this is what I really need. Hopefully someone else can find out why its not working. Im not sure if its meaningful or not, but I do not get the VIEW HTML button in my form wizard, yet the tutorial says I should have it.
well cant work thru the tutorials anymore, need to use the form wizard. hopefully someone gets back to me soon.
thanks!
tony.
i think i may have found the problem
i am using rochen host, multiple account.
please bear with my while i try to explain...
i have web1.com and web2.com
they share the same space, with web1.com being the root, and web2.com being a subdirectory of web1.com
web2.com's form wizard doesnt work.
web1.com's form wizard does work.
both are FRESH installs of joomla with only the chronoforms installed.
maybe the form wizard, for some crazy reason, requires it to be at the root?
I don't think it should make a difference as you can install in any directory but it could be pointing to something else and its an interesting observation
are the server settings (php.ini) the same or different for the two installs ?
Now magically it is working for me on both websites. Very interesting.
All I did was play around with the menus a bit, add some content, and thats about it. Then I went to see if it was working, and lo and behold, it was.
hmm that is strange and inconsistent which worries me - I can only comment on my own experiences and due to inconsistency like this I was forced to move on - its a shame as I really like Chronoform - but can't afford the time to resolve things - just need it working especially when I paid for a license
Hi all,
I believe that the problem with zorgath was the browser or the website cache, the wizard is strongly affected by this, you always need to clear the cache whenever you have any issues with the wizard, this was always the solution! the next form wizard version should be better, but because its using mootools 1.2, I can't release it before J1.6, but its much better indeed!
and the "HTML view" button was removed from the recent versions, not needed!

Thanks Max,
Good to hear. I will certainly have a play with it once it's released.
Nic
max,
it definately wasnt the browser. i tried it on 3 different computers, all 3 would work on one website, but not on the other. it had to be some system setting. funny thing is, i didnt change anything. i did notify my host, but i doubt they did anything.
Hi zorgath,
same browser or different browsers too ? did you try it on 2 different browsers on the same PC ? because the wizard uses Javascript heavily and this is only browser related, assuming all files was loading correctly and there is no problems with the files on your server!
