ChronoForms extension for Joomla 1.5 - form is not displayed

nadyav07 12 Jun, 2009
I have a problem with ChronoForms extension for Joomla 1.5. I followed all instructions in the tutorial, created a form, published it, but the link shows an empty space instead of the form. Link to the test form: http://www.voyance4ever.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=test.

I also installed Plugin-Mambot, but tags {chronocontact}test{/chronocontact} don't work as well (I added them to the page http://www.voyance4ever.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=2). I think {chronocontact}test{/chronocontact} doesn't work because link to the form doesn't show anything.

I will really appreciate if someone can help me with this.

Hi nadyav07,

My guess is that you haven't published the form in the Form Manager - look in the right hand column.

Bob,

The form is published, I double checked it.

Hi Nadya,

Your form looks OK to me and shows up just as I would expect.

What URL are you using to display it?

Hi Nadya,

Your template is broken and isn't displaying the content.

If you go here you can see that the form is fine.

If you switch back to one of the default Joomla templates I think that you will find that all is well.

Bob,

I used rhuk_milkyway template as a basis, but all you see is custom HTML. I emailed to you index.php and XML files. You can probably notice what is wrong. Thank you.

I tried RSform!Pro, but it doesn't work either. I think Bob is right and it's a template thing. He said that the vital line is
<jdoc:include type="component" />. This line was removed by me from the original template, but when I'm trying to put it back, the browser says "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded", and the form doesn't appear anyway.

mmm, I'm not very experienced with the J1.5 templates code, try to copy and paste some code from one of the Joomla's default themes till it work again!

Thank you everyone for helping me out, but it seems this extension just doesn't work for my modified template.

I tried what Bob said and the form was displayed when you click on the generated URL, but it wasn't displayed on the specific page. Besides, the web site was totally screwed up in the IE. I found some tutorial saying how to fix it, but it seems using HTML Module to create custom PHP forms is just the easiest thing to do in this situation.

I'll definitely use ChronoForms in the future, since I really like the extension. :-)

Hi Max,

Nadya has created a Joomla template that does not display *any* page content - just modules.

She's decided to hand-code the form html and use the HTML Module instead of using ChronoForms with the ChronoForm module.

Hi Bob,

That's good for now then, as long as she is happy with the results!
