Is there a user manual/pdf

syco 05 Mar, 2009
Hi Guys,

[>> Split from URGENT! "Chronoforms has stuffed my site!" : GreyHead <<]]

Is there a user manual/pdf ... as I have tried the tutorials.. but I need to understand the applications terminology better🤨

Example:
I would like to have the 'Customer' (who is enquiring) ... their email address added to 'FROM' so that when the email that is sent to the businesses admin (or customer support dept) they have the "Customers Email Details from the FORM" and already placed into the email.. so all they will need to do is push replt to the email that was sent from the online form to respond to the customer enquiry. Hope this makes sense. I have got it currently as one of the 'Text boxes" on the form.. but i would prefer this to be in the email from.. for reasons stated above. So where can i find more advance documentation... other the the tutorial pdf's. I have had a look on the FAQ's section.. but i could find this as a question. Hope this makes sense (maybe we should start a new thread for this)

Enquiry Form

Postal Address 1 Test St Testland OZ 1234
I would like to enquire about :
Home Air Conditioning Home Air Conditioning
Home Air Conditioning(<--- How do I delete these from the form output?????) Commercial Air Conditioning
Home Air Conditioning Commercial Refrigeration
Home Air Conditioning Transport Refrigeration
Home Air Conditioning Electrical Services
Home Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance
I require specific information about : testing the form!!!

PS - One other question: .... is something is not setup correctly in the radio section? I choose "Home Air Conditioning" for this test and I thought that would be the 'only' radio button info forwarded in the email, but as you can see it still has 'every' radio choice... but with 'Home Air Conditioning' in front of each point. Is this how it's suppose to work🤨 🤨

Thanks again for your quick response. 😀

Hi syco,

There is no manual other than the pdfs in the download area. If the forums ever get quiet enough and Max stops issuing new releases then something might get written. Meanwhile 99% of the answers are in the forums here.

You can use a Dynamic From Email field in your email setup to put the client's email in the From Email field. You can't at present do the same with the ReplyTo Email field. That said **I strongly recommend** that you don't do this, it is the biggest cause of email problems reported here. If your From or Reply TO email domains don't match your site domain then it is very likey that your email will be marked as relaying and possible spam; some isps may drop it automatically.

If you do decide to do this, test with a static From Email address first and only when you are certain that everything is working correctly re-test with the Dynamic From Email address. You will need to test a wide range of email addresses and recipients including aol, gmail, live, yahoo, etc. if those addresses are likely to be used on your site.

The fix for the radio buttons problem has been posted at least half a dozen times here. I though that it had been corrected in the latest release as I haven't seen it recently.

Thx for the heads up on the 'user manual'. I suppose I will just have to trial and error my way through a bit.. as I said I'm a novice and have had no formal training in html, css, etc. you name it🙂 ... I learnt everything I know through the 'google it' class🙂
So when I comes to understand things.. I work through them until I understand, which I guess what I'll have to do here.

1)

You can use a Dynamic From Email field in your email setup to put the client's email in the From Email field.

I was a little unclear when trying to do a test set up of the Dynamic From Email.. I couldn't get this to work😟
If you drag the Dynamic From Email into the email setup window... what do you next???? In the Tip BOX is says "This will hold a field that will contain the EMAIL FROM EMAIL, the wizard will let you pick one of the fields you created in step1"
What does that statement mean... "the wizard will let you pick"... how or what wording/info goes in this field to makes this field work?? I put the item number in.. is this what you need to do... i'm confused :?

2)
Is there a thread/tutorial you can recommend which explains - how to set up a 'reply email' once someone has submitted a form.

I have created the form, I've created the email that goes to the admin with the details, I have set up in the FORM CODE the "On Submit code - after sending email" coding.... but the only thing left now which I have to do.. is set up a 'auto reply email'.. that will be sent to the customer saying "Thank your for your enquiry about a free consultation from Clements Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical. One of our consultants has been advised of your request and will be in contact with you by the next business day."

Cheers,

Hi syco,

Put text_2 in the box no brackets or quotes

To send a 'Thank you' email to the customer - create a second Email Setup and use a Dynamic To field. Once you've saved it there will be a second email template where you can put your message.

This thread fixed my problem... even though I had to work out that I had to replace my "Email template" code with {radio0} ... I tried the {RadioGourp1} as Max had suggested but that related to Rila's Form and not the code in mine.. once I compared the 2.. it made sense that I use
{radio0}

So I think I have now fixed most issues thanks to you and MAX. Your help is highly appreciated..especially with how quickly you reply on the forum. I have been using a lot of different forums in the past year in trying to understand the world of web building and Joomla, and it makes a massive difference when admin/support reply quickly to help.. as I will now become a supporter of your product simply on this fact alone... (even though this is a great component as well🙂)... this is why I also you JoomlaPack.. great component.. but also great support.

I will definitely be getting a site License.

Thanks again
