A golden improvement idea for ChronoComment

DJLN 19 Feb, 2009
Hi Everybody, Hi Max !

After reading a great and insightful article by David Risley about list building,
I've eventually thought that adding a compatible autoresponse tool to
ChronoComment would be a golden idea :

Indeed there is not such thing for Joomla, and it would be really useful
to a lot of e-marketers on the Web.

If you were able to add this feature to your otherwise perfect extension,
I think it would be a great improvement, and something a lot of people
will be willing to pay for (me of course included)

Please let me know what you think about that...

Dear Max,

The whole concept is described within David's post... Here are the parts involved :

When you post a comment on a blog, what do you enter? Your name, email address, perhaps your URL, and your comment. What do you want when capturing leads to your email list? Name and email address. So, every commenter on your blog is handing this information over in order to post a comment. However, in most cases, it is completely wasted!

The answer I have found is called Action Comments. It is a Wordpress plug-in which will give your commenters a one-click option to subscribe to your mailing list while they are posting a comment. I set it up on this blog and it works like a champ.

When you install it, you will enter the opt-in form HTML for your mailing system into your settings. It doesnโ€™t have to be formatted or anything. Whenever a commenter decides to subscribe to your list, Action Comments invisibly takes the name and email address they theyโ€™re already entering and submits it using the opt-in form code you enter.

The great thing about this plug-in is that your readers are not forced to re-enter their information just to subscribe to your list. Theyโ€™re already doing it just to post a comment, so you just collect it (with their consent, of course).

He is speaking about a wordpress extension, but it would be great if that feature was added on ChronoComment for Joomla. It would become the must have extension for all the Internet Marketers... Moreover, it will give you a great advance, because as far as I know, there is still not a lot of people that have implemented David's recommendations...

What do you think of that ?

Hi Dushan,

its a good idea and easy to do but to do it we have 1 of 2 options:

#1- add the necessary code which will work with one of the Joomla newsletters extensions! this will need choosing one of them which may not be favored by everybody and I need to study their code structure and any updates to this extension may make problems...etc

#2- I make a new simple newsletter extension which will be compatible with the comments and fully supported by me which means time and effort!๐Ÿ™‚

So, I will think about it, if you have more ideas then you are welcome to let me know!

Cheers

Well, Max, I think that considering the target, neither option will be at the best, because professionnal marketer do not use Joomla or custom newsletter extension... So maybe your #2 point would be too much work for not much of a result... And as for #1, I suggest that you forget about Joomla newsletter extension, and do the mod for aWeber.

aWeber is the most famous and used autoresponse tool by professionnal, and I think that it would be the most profitable partner for that work...

Now I don't know if it's technically possible, but if someone made it for Wordpress, it should be possible for Joomla too...

As far as I'm concerned I would be ready to pay for that tool, and I know a lot of other Joomla user that will be willing to also. And as it is not already used by a majority of marketers, it would give you a train in advance (do you use this expression also in english ? ๐Ÿ™‚ )

All the best,
Dushan

Hi Dushan,

ASAP, I need to free sometime for this, to be honest, I'm giving priority to free the new release of Chronoforms from 2 or 3 bugs then I can look for the other extensions!๐Ÿ˜‰
