    Hi Vincevg,

The method to use for the combined name is in this post (it's being used for something different but will work here).

That said, I **strongly** recommend that you do not use Dynamic From Email fields. If you do you may find that your emails are being treated as spam and not delivered.

    Hi Vincevg,

#1- not all users need this so it is not included!
#3- the component must be reinstalled so we are sure that everything is fine, you can overwrite all the files too!

    Cheers

Can you elaborate? Are you saying that when setting up the email ("Setup Email" fields), that you should NOT include a "Dynamic" FromEmail (that picks up the email address from the Email field created in the Form Wizard)???

    Hi donsom,

You can use it and sometimes this is fine but other times your email will get blocked by your ISP or another, so when you are creating your email for the first time, use a static from email, later, you can test it with the dynamic one and see if it will work!

I do find that Outlook sends the email directly to my JUNK folder when it receives it. Not sure if that is Outlook, or the ISP.

If I understand this correctly, how else would you do it? .... The FROM email field will be the user's email address that they fill in when they are completing the form. How else can you pick this up other than "dynamically"??

There is no way you can fill this in for the user. Sorry, maybe I am misunderstanding something? ... or is it a matter of directly editing the HTML in the email instead of using the "dynamic" way? ... :? :? :?

    Hi Donsom,

Technically, this is an email from the website so the From Email **should** match the website domain.

If the sending domain (the website) and the From Email domain are different then some (many) ISPs and mail filters treat this as being an indicator of relaying and spamming.

Always test with a From Email that matches your site domain; once you are sure that this works then test a Dynamic From Email. You need to test both that your ISP will send and that all the common email services gmail. live, hotmail, aol, yahoo, etc. will receive these emails.

I strongly recommend that you do not use a Dynamic From Email.

I see your point now about "relay spam association".

Even though "technically" the email would pick up the dynamic FROM field, ... it is ACTUALLY being sent via the domain host email account. Using the dynamic email in that case would definitely constitute some type of " Email RELAY", and set off most SPAM filters.

    Thanks...

To add to the issue of dynamic FROM, more and more domain managers these days resort to SPF (Sender Policy Framework), which basically means that they decide which hosts are trusted to send mails on behalf of their domain.
Domains such as gmail.com, live.com, and hotmail.com use SPF, just to mention a few, while Yahoo.com does not. If your email hoster/provider honours SPF, you'll most likely have problems whenever someone enters "my@gmail.com" as their email.

Another quirk here, is that even though your webhost/ISP does not honour SPF, any intermittent email server (if delivering to an off-site email address) might still honour it and refuse to relay it further.

    Hi all,

I will add a "Reply to" "optional" name and email fields to the emails setup in RC3, may be this will help at some cases although from what I can see it will not work all the time and still will make problems! 😑

If you're interested, I've got some informative reading regarding the Reply-To header.
With a proper setup, Dynamic ReplyTo + Static "mydomain" From should be the most reliable way of an easy "reply to form-submitter" email.
Unfortunately, some mail admins don't care to configure their spam-stompers properly, resulting in issues like high scores on ReplyTo headers.
Also, as I think was covered in one of the links below, some email servers/spam-stompers have their own very strict idea on the format of ReplyTo (although they should pay little attention to this one), not always conforming to neither RFC 822 nor RFC2822.

Thank you very much for this, I will look at the links, and as promised will add them to the next release and it will be up to the user to use them or not!
