e-book help

r_m 17 Feb, 2009
Hi there,

Hope someone can help me here as I'm tearing my hair out trying to find a solution.

We want a section on our website that offers people a free e-book (or something similar)

Ideally they would complete a form - i.e. name, company, email and phone number etc.

This would allow us to market to them in the future in return for the e-book we provide.

When they click on the "get e-book" now or "submit" button etc. the system would then automatically email the person a copy of the e-book.

Can anyone help me on how I go about something like this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi r_m,

Haven't we answered this before? I recall that you were using response-o-matic which made everything much more complicated.

The simple way is to create a form and add a link to the email template for the recipient to download the e-book.

Or a more complicated approach would be to add some OnSubmit code to add the file information to the ChronoForms $attachment array so that the e-book is attached to the email.

You don't need Chrono Forms for that.
1. Setup an email address of 'ebookrequest@yourdomain.com".
2. Put the book in a directory with a password on your server... or... no password but not linked to external pages. Whatever you feel comfortable with and can accomplish. (if it's a joomla site... install remository... and you can password protect it..AND make it look good.)
3. Setup the email address to auto respond with 'thanks for stopping by... click here to get your book" with a link to the url of the book.

I can do it and I'm a caveman.
