Click submit button but nothing happens

qmeister 10 Dec, 2008
Hi there,

I've just started using this component and am having some trouble - hoping someone can help.

I used the wizard to create the form, containing name, email, subject,message and submit button.

Set up the emails and got the green coloured box.

Have published the form.

Emails are: Enabled 0, Disabled 1

I've incorporated the form into an article - it previews perfectly, but when testing and clicking the submit button (when all required fields are filled out) nothing happens at all.

Could someone please suggest what might be wrong ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Q,

that's because the email is disabled, I suggest you look at Downloads/Chronoforms tutorials/ at the site here for a full step by step tutorial on how to get the email running!

Thanks Max - I checked out those tutorials and it did shed some light on what I was doing wrong in terms of setting up emails - I had failed to select "Enabled:Yes" once the Set Emails box went green.

So now I've corrected that part and the emails setting is now:
Enabled:1
Disabled:0

But still nothing is happening when the form is submitted. The cursor simply jumps back to field one of the form when the submit button is pressed.

Is there anything else I can check ?

Thanks again

Update on this issue:

Seems this might be a validation issue. I managed to get an email sent, but the following message was displayed, along with the email summary:-

_POST: Array ( [text_0] => hfkjsguhgjty [text_1] => [email]anemail@address.com[/email] [text_2] => jkjkjkjkjkiklkljlih [text_3] => This is a test message [undefined] => Submit [89906c7252b6617597b304f9551f553b] => 1 )

Question Part 1: Is the first message an error message ? Should this appear ?

Question Part 2: The validation rules I had set (using the wizard when I set up the form) do not appear under the Validation tab......should they ? How can I double check my settings and or/edit them ? At present validation is set to "NO" and nothing appears in the field below under the heading of server side validation. There are prompts when filling out the form in the front end about field entries needing to be of a particular format, so how does that tie in with the absence of these settings under the Validation tab ? How do I reset the validation rules?

Thanks again for any assistance you can offer,

Hi qmeister,

The code you see is the standard ChronoForms debug report - turn DeBug off in the General Tab and it will disappear.

You need to turn validation on in the Validation tab for it to work. Validation set in the wizard doesn't appear here - but you can change it by editing the class attributes in the Form HTML - you will see something like
<input . . .  class='input_code validation_required' . . .>
