Previous versions you could use php in the email. Is there anyway to use conditions to show data in the email in the editor?
Or do i need to create a custom variable with all data including html markup before and add that one into the email editor?

you need to use an Email action to use PHP in the email, in the Advanced settings you can enable the "PHP support" option
