Contact form with Beta 2

Philip Roy 18 Aug, 2008
Hi there,

Had a go at making a simple contact form and had quite a time getting the email template to save its settings after I had completed the wizard. To enable the form, I kept going in and enabling it, only to come out and find it saying it wasn't enabled.

Anyway, I got there in the end but I have a trivial issue and important ones that I'm not sure are bugs or not?

Trivial...how can I align the fields to match up with the red line I have drawn in? I tried
.cf_label {width:150px;}
for CSS, but it had no effect.

Captcha text is very small. Is there a way to increase the font size on the Captcha images?

Output after form submission. I'm not getting any dynamic information appearing on the thank you page as the wizard helped me set up. See attached image...

One more to come in a moment.

And the email received is not plain text. This is what the email looks like in my email client. I tried switching off the editor in Joomla, but the email area still insisted in creating an HTML email template and sends through all the HTML.....

Hope this helps in any bug fixing.

Hi Phil,

when you create a form with wizard, all fields are aligned automatically because we include a CSS to do that, UNLESS, you have another CSS conflicting with Chronoforms one OR you have disabled "Chronoforms loads CSS/JS files" at the form edit page ?

#2- choose captcha with font!
#3- Yes, this is a bug, I forgot to make the replacing!! attached a fixed file to replace with BETA 2!

#4- did you leave the email template empty ? if yes then it will generate an HTML one, open the HTML button at the editor and enter your plan text!

Cheers

Hi there,

1 - I do have it set to use the Chronoforms CSS but I can't see it being loaded at all. Firebug is picking up no references to it either. This is what was causing me a lot of issue last night...I'd make a change or a setting, save it and then the setting wouldn't be applied. When the CSS failed to load, I tried deactivating it and then reactivating it....but still no luck.

2 - Thanks, sorted.

3 - I'm now getting a blank content screen (ie, the image above with the "thank you" text etc missing) instead of any output as a thank you?

4 - The email I receive is still not truly plain text (see attached)

Sorry, not sure what I'm doing wrong.

#3- attached another fix :
#4- you can hack the file attached to remove those tags like <p> and <br>

#1- right click the label in firebug, which CSS classes it has loaded on the right hand side CSS area ?

Hi there,
Thanks for your help on this.

#3 - That sorted the problem, thanks.

#4 - I'll leave that for now and look at it later

#1 - Sorry, not quite sure I'm meant to be looking for and giving info on. You're welcome to look at the page...
http://www.nziphone.com/contact.html

I can't see anything loading related to input or cf_label classes etc. I tried a little experiment and looked under phpMyAdmin to see if the setting to include CSS is recorded there....should it be? No matter if I set it to on or off (it's back to 'on' now) the info in the table didn't change, if that's where that setting gets stored.

Hope that helps.

Cheers, Phil

I uninstalled version 2.5, removed the tables in mySQL and installed it via the installer. From the back end, "3.0 J1.5 BETA 2". I'm using chronobot version 0.6 with it, if that is relevant at all.

Hi Phil, well, I missed this, its the bot, V0.6 is not yet compatible with the V3.0, until new one is ready, the CSS may not load, feel free to hack the bot to add the new files references, that's all what you need!

Cheers

I'll go back to version 2 I think. I went to 3 as I hoped it would resolve the registration issue I was having that you and Bob were helping with...but I'd rather wait for the component and bot to be finished and then look at resolving both issues at that time.

Cheers,

Max, I see ChronoForms Mambot V 0.8 is out for ChronoForms 3.0......so do you think making a contact form would work OK now?

Cheers,

Phil

OK something very weird is going on. If I add a button in to the form, it appears and is called "Submit"....however if I click on that button to edit it in any way, my form gets saved and I get kicked out of the form wizard? Using Firefox 3.0.2 if that is of any help.

Also, I've paid for a license, so how do I get the version without a backlink?

Cheers,

Phil

OK...figured out not to click directly on the "submit" button to edit it 🙂

Final post as it is all working wonderfully now !! I'll PM you Max for the licensed versions of the component and/or mambot.

Cheers,

So using the bot doesn't allow for CSS to be applied to the form?

I am using bot version .8 and I can't seem to get the CSS to load with the form. Checkout my page at http://gomaidgreen.com/index.php/contact and you'll see what I mean. Form looks kinda sloppy.

Any help with this is greatly appriciated.
Philip Roy 27 Apr, 2009
No, quite the opposite....my post was that CSS for the form wasn't being applied in the beta at that time. That's now fixed in the latest beta I tried. Now I have another issue of text gibberish after the "submit" button, but the fix (of changing the order of the email cloaking and form plugins) hasn't solved it.

CSS-wise, you should be fine.

Phil

That's weird because the CSS is not displaying on my site. I need to dig a little further on this one. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction.
Philip Roy 27 Apr, 2009
Update to the latest beta's...that's what this thread is about, and the component beta and plugin beta have been updated.

But keep in mind, they're beta's.
