Field validation not working ?

SPABO 18 Apr, 2017
Hi Max,

In several fields in the validation tab I added:

empty: Pls fill out etc etc

When sending, not filling out the field(s), it shoes shows shortly the validation message (in red), but sends anyway.

It should not send when a field is not filled out

Pls advise

Best regards

Kees

You should use the following line in the validation tab:
required: Pls fill out etc etc

Tx: but does not work as well...........

It keeps on sending when pushing the send button

FYI It also does not work when I make a new Basic contactform

Hi Kees,

This issue happens when mootools library is loaded on the page, you will need to disable it, there is a Joomla plugin which can disable it for you here:
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/mootools-enabler-disabler/

The problem is that some templates still use it and this may cause another error, I will try to find a solution.

That's the solution Max.

It seems both empty: and required: have the same function??

Is this correct??

Last question on this: How do we validate if a correct emailaddress is used?

Hi Kees,

Please note that the next update will fix the mootools issue and there will be no need for this plugin.

The email rule is "email"

Hi Max,

When empty, I get the error message, but if I put an invalid emailaddress, eg : info@kees, (without the .nl of .com) no validation error message, the forms submits, I get the "thanks" message and the data stored in the DB

I also confirm the same problem. If I enter mrz@drz without the domain extension and use the email verification, the form goes through without an error.

Hi Max,
FYI: It works when the @ is missing

Hi Max,

It should have the @, which works fine already

And one dot ( 1 .) , but after the @

(if possible ofcourse)
