Domain Validation Failing

sean.regehr 17 Jan, 2017
I recently applied the latest update to address the PHPMailer issue.

Afterwards my 5 registered and previously validated domains, all fail.

I was told to serial number in addition to validation key, yet I am not able to retrieve my serial number and was not instructed as to how to retrieve it.

Can you please provide or instruct on how to obtain my serial number again?

Copied from first ticket email response:
"Nothing was changed in the validation check routine and we did not receive any reports about any issues.

The key should work regardless of the "www", this has been the case already since many versions.

Maybe there was some server config changes on your end which is now causing this issue, please try to use the "serial number" along with the "Validation key" and check if it works or not.

Best regards,
Max

I can confirm that no server config changes were made. Can you please elaborate on exactly what kinds of changes you are referring to?

Hi Sean,

All five of your domains are correctly registered on the site here BUT they are all locked. If you check the My Validations link to the right here you will see the message "Locked keys will NOT validate, you can use this to secure your keys." If you un-lock them you should be able to revalidate the site.

There can be server restrictions that prevent your site contacting the ChronoEngine site to complete the validation process - in particular if the php allow_url_fopen() method is blocked. In that case you can get an 'Instant code' from here to complete the validation process. You probably do not need that in this case.

I'm a bit surprised that you need to re-validate after upgrading CFv5 - I would expect the validations to be preserved unless there was an uninstall+reinstall. Or maybe there is an automatic re-validation that is being blocked by the domain locks.
