ChronoForms v4 to v5 update

jmahun 15 Apr, 2015
I was using CF v4 on my site before upgrading Joomla to v3.4.1. Something broke because I can no longer use CF v4 to develop new forms although the pre-upgrade forms I developed work fine. CFv4 still appears in my Components list, but I get an error when I try to access it. I presume reinstalling CF v4. will fix the problem but I'm considering installing CF v5 instead. Because my existing forms are fine, is there any reason I would need to migrate them to v5? And if I did need to, how would I do it?

Hi Jmahun,

Installing the latest version of CFv4 for Joomla! 3 should work OK. Please see this FAQ

There is no automatic upgrade from CFv4 to CFv5. There is an experimental importer but it is very limited and only handles the form HTML.

There is no need to upgrade to CFv5 at the moment. I would suggest that you use CFv5 for any new forms and migrate the existing forms over as and when the need to be modified.

Thank you for the information.

Here is how you can fix CFv4 in Joomla 3.4:

add folder administrator/components/com_chronoforms/versions/j3.4
and copy content of the folder J3.3 into that new folder.
